ARCHITECTURE Pan Yiyang SELECTED WORKS 2024-2025

STATEMENT I believe the future of architecture lies not in formal innovation, but in reconnecting people, nature, and society — in rebuilding the emotional and spatial relationship between human beings and their environments. The rapid pace of urbanization has made land resources increasingly scarce, while population density and housing pressure continue to rise. In this context, architecture and urban planning should focus more on rational land use and spatial regeneration. Through adaptive reuse, site renewal, and the development of mixed-use communities, we can create more spaces for living and interaction within limited urban areas. I hope to explore exible and human-centered design, allowing architecture to become an extension of life rather than a constraint. Spaces should be adaptable and transformative, capable of shifting functions to meet changing needs and to enhance both efficiency and spatial value. As urban life accelerates, people devote most of their time to work, resulting in weakened emotional bonds and social isolation. Future architecture should embody publicness and inclusivity, providing open and diverse spaces for interaction and participation, and rebuilding emotional connections among people. Architecture should not only meet functional demands but also evoke empathy and social engagement. Meanwhile, amid increasingly diverse design languages, it remains essential to preserve cultural continuity and local identity, connecting the past and the future while maintaining the unique character of place. Technological advancement has brought new possibilities to design. Tools such as parametric design greatly expand a designer’s creative potential but also introduce new challenges. I believe parametricism should not be merely a formal tool, but a language that explores the relationships among people, nature, and data. Designers must nd a balance between technology and humanity, ensuring that innovation does not overshadow the social and emotional dimensions of architecture.

02 TALES WOVEN IN COSTUME AND STAGE Stage Costume Museum Academic Project Individual Work Site: Qinhuangdao City, China Spring 2025

Introduction

Nowadays, drama is developing at an increasingly rapid pace and is also deeply loved by people in China. At present, there are many Chinese drama museums in China, but there is a lack of more international drama museums. Such a museum can help people better understand the drama cultures and histories of various places, no longer just limited to domestic dramas. Aranya Cultural and Creative Block is a comprehensive community with a strong artistic atmosphere. It has a variety of cultural and living service facilities and a beautiful natural environment. Every year, a drama festival that brings together avant-garde drama, experimental art and lifestyle is held here. Thus, this very artistic place attracts a lot of tourists. Therefore, design a stage costume museum in this place. It is located in a natural theater that coexists with the coast and humanities. Through close-up viewing of stage costumes, everyone can understand the evolution and charm of stage art from di erent perspectives. At the same time, it has an interesting interior space and a beautiful facade, which is a popular photo-op location for tourists.

03 NEW URBANISM School District Housing Community Academic Project Individual Work Site: Beijing, China Winter 2024

Introduction With the increase in population and social development, people are paying more and more attention to education. Many parents, in order to provide their children with a good educational environment, have led to the growing demand for school district houses and the continuous rise in property prices. As a result, many parents are under great pressure. Meanwhile, some parents from rural areas have gone to work in di erent cities for their children's education. This also leaves many children to live with their grandparents, lacking the company of their parents.

A comprehensive community is a building with multi-functional Spaces. Not only can it provide a large number of school district houses to o er education for more children, but it can also promote the relationship between parents and children. It provides children with a good growth environment and also reduces the pressure on parents.

SORROUNDING BLOCK

This is a construction model that can be in nitely replicated. When encountering areas with the same problems, it provides more residential communities for people and reduces the problem of dense housing. This building is a very large structure. It forms a sharp contrast with the very dense residential buildings around.

A wide variety of interactive Spaces are provided for residents.

04 EXTENSION AND CONTINUATION Renovation of abandoned Olympic sports venues Academic Project Individual Work Guangzhou,China Spring 2024

Introduction A large amount of funds has been invested in the construction of venues for each Olympic Games. However, after the Games, many venues are abandoned for various reasons and can no longer be used, seriously causing a waste of land resources. Among them, Athens and Atlanta have more serious problems. In recent years, the number of refugees in Greece has increased. A large number of refugees are camping in open-air sports venues and other places. But they are in a harsh environment and lack basic facilities. To reduce the waste of resources after the Olympics, the abandoned Olympic baseball stadium in Athens can be transformed into a community where refugees can temporarily gather. Reuse the original structure and space to provide refugees with an environment that can shelter them from wind and rain and is equipped with infrastructure.

INFORMATION ON THE VENUES OF THE LAST TEN OLYMPIC FAMES

ABANDONED VENUES FOR THE 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES IN GREECE

Analyzing the data of abandoned venues after the last ten Olympic Games, I found that there are more abandoned venues in Greece and more funds have been invested. Therefore, I investigated various abandoned venues in Greece and found that most of them were concentrated in Hellinikon.

REASONS FOR ABANDONED VENUES IN HELLINIKON

ANALYSIS OF HELLINIKON LOCATION

By analyzing the reasons for the abandonment of each venue and the situation near the site. It was found that almost no one came to most of the venues after the Olympic Games, and only the baseball and hockey elds were inhabited by refugees from 2015 to 2017. Since the number of refugees in Greece has also increased in recent years, I want to design a prefabricated community for this purpose.

ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT SITUATION

FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT SITUATION OF THE SITE

ASSEMBLY AND FUNCTIONAL STRATEGY

After the original system analysis of the site, it was found that the structure of the roof can be retained and extended to the ground. Adopt the design concept of plug-in city, set up a hanging tower on the roof, and insert each house, so that each house can be updated and demolished at any time, making it more exible.

PERSPECTIVE LONG SECTION

The audience area adopts exible structural methods to transform the space, which can meet different needs to assemble Spaces with different functions and achieve a reasonable distribution. Independent vertical transportation systems are set up in the middle of each of the three areas, and in addition, the three Spaces are connected. The grassland section can clear out the original tents to provide activity space for refugees. Promote the development of a good refugee community.
