The Modern Mirror Process
The creation of this mirror started with drafting up the plans. I measured my space to see how big I could make it. I also made a list of materials that I would need from the hardware store or scraps I could salvage from around the house. Once the materials were gathered I was able to assemble the mirror in stages. First, was the cutting of all the wood pieces, second was glueing and stapling the wood together, then we painted it, and lastly we glued on the mirror panels.
Modern Mirror
This modern black mirror was made to emulate the large windows typically found in old industrial lofts. The intent was to make the space feel larger and brighter than it was by reflecting light. We created this mirror using leftover pieces of plywood and trim, overall trying to create this beautiful piece while staying relatively sustainable and affordable. It was incredibly fun to learn these new hands-on skills and physically see the fruits of my labor.
Mid-Century Home Exterior: 3D Painting I painted this 3D exterior of a mid-century modern home using acrylic paint. I began sketching various aspects of mid-century homes that I love and ultimately created a house that is a combination of a multitude of my favorite designs in addition to my own ideas. I wanted to create a raised entryway with a lowered carport to the side for street appeal. The cascading three thin front windows are of my own design and the wood accent siding and slanted roof pay homage to the classic mid-century modern aesthetic.
Cozy Cabin Gallery
I painted this set of three pictures using acrylic paint and harnessing my artistic technical skills. The intent was that they create a mini gallery wall that has the perfect vibe for a cozy cabin or a farmhouse aesthetic. The black and white colors make it neutral and easy to style and go with any home’s color palette.
Retro Retreat With one step over the threshold, the smell of petrichor and old books is heavy in the air. Amidst the bright pops of color and eclecticism, there lies a luscious forest just beyond. A cozy corner of the wood-laden home acts as the perfect library retreat to delve into a good book under the intimate mood lighting reminiscent of the 50s era. The organic shapes juxtapose the clean lines and showcase the innovation that the turn of the century is known for. Laughter amongst friends and family is sure to ring true for the future to come in this idyllic forever home.
