Judge dismisses Wegmans suit filed by residents By Jim Ridolphi for Ashland-Hanover Local HANOVER — Hanover Circuit Court Judge Overton Harris has dismissed a lawsuit filed last summer by five Hanover County citizens regarding the proposed Wegmans Distribution Center slated for the Ashcake and Sliding Hill Road area. Safety was main focus for keeping town’s pool open By Melody Kinser Managing Editor ASHLAND – Assistant Town Manager Matt Reynal updated the Ashland Parks and Recreation Committee on the operations of the Carter Park Pool, saying the “big focus was on

safety and staying within state guidelines” in the time of COVID-19. During last Thursday’s regular meeting, he said that the pool, in its second year, opened on July 2 rather than Memorial Day due to Governor Northam’s Phase III of COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines. A new Carter Pool

opened in 2019. Reynal said no concession sales or memberships were available, because “we didn’t know how long the season would last. Free Friday seemed to be a big hit. We tried staying open through September, which was really cold and rainy. That didn’t work out well.”

To ensure adherence to state guidelines, attendance was allowed in the 75% range. Reynal said “210 only hit that a few times, especially on Free Friday. Overall, it was kind of fun having the Free Fridays.”
