ILLIAMSBURG -- William C. “Bill” Frazier, a longtime businessman, supervisor and community leader in Hanover County, is the recipient of the 2019 Electric Cooperative Leadership Award from the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC). Frazier received the association’s highest award July 29 as part of the VMDAEC 75th Annual Meeting in Williamsburg. A resident of Montpelier, Frazier has served on the board of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative since 1981, including the role of chairman, and has played an integral role in numerous co-op initiatives. He also served for six years as a member of the Old Dominion Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. Frazier was a member of the Hanover

The Home Building Association of Richmond hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Aug, 1, for Richmond Homearama 2020 at Hickory Hill in Ashland. Next year’s event will be the show’s debut in Hanover County. HANOVER — The Hanover County Board of Supervisors will decide whether a local VFW Post can continue to hold semi-annual events that some neighbors say are dangerous. Members of Post 10657 of Glen Allen are seeking a Conditional Use Permit allowing them to construct a building to house a collection of antique military vehicles and equipment at their Cedar Lane location. There was little objection to the new building, but the activities associated with the site were scrutinized when Planning Commissioners considered the request last month. The Post was seeking to amend its sketch plan to accommodate the new building on its 7-acreplus site off Cedar Lane. The property is currently zoned agricultural. Assistant county planner Lee Garman said the county’s department of Public Works requires a certified study to determine if the new plans infringe on surrounding wetlands.
