ASHLAND -- When the Carter Park Pool opens in May, Ashland residents will be treated to a number of improvements resulting from a $1.5 million renovation. Unfortunately, they also will be greeted by increased admission rates for the first time in 10 years. Town Manager Josh Farrar told Ashland Town Council on Tuesday, March 5, that the increase is long overdue and will assist the town with operating costs for the community pool. While Ashland provides the pool memberships as a service to its residents and rates compare favorably with other pool options in the area, Farrar said that recouping 60

Canova Peterson has announced his candidacy for re-election to represent the Mechanicsville District on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors. “Eight years ago I made the decision to give back to this community, which has treated me so well PETERSON over the years. I did so by running as the Republican candidate to serve on the Board of Supervisors as the representative from the Mechanicsville District. ASHLAND – Charles “Cliff ” Goldsborough, who has been serving as operations manager in charge of treasurer functions for the City of Richmond, has accepted an offer from Ashland Town Manager Joshua Farrar to become the town finance director.

Re-election bid made by Peterson

Goldsborough earned his BA in English and Literature, with a Minor in Political Science, in 2005 from the University of Rhode Island, and earned his MBA in Business Management from Tulane University Freeman School of Business in 2016. He is currently pursuing the Master Governmental Treasurer Certification administered by the Treasurer’s Association of

Virginia. In Richmond, Goldsborough supervised 46 employees and oversaw all delinquent tax collections. He also sponsored two ordinances to align the City Code to best finance practices, and performed most of the functions typically associated with a Treasurer’s Office. He previously served as the business analysis manager for

the City of Richmond, and prior to that was with the City of New Orleans Finance Department from 2011 to 2017. Goldsborough and his wife Brittany live in Richmond. He said they “are excited at the opportunity to join the team in the ‘Center of the Universe’.” He will begin his new role with the Town of Ashland on Monday, March 25.
