Timmy Shields and Drew Klesat Fowler announces lead Class of 2017 at Atlee High bid for re-election By Melody Kinser Managing Editor MECHANICSVILLE – With a grade point average of 4.72, Timmy Shields leads the 2017 Class of Atlee High School as valedictorian. The salutatorian is Drew Klesat, who has a 4.69565 (weighted) GPA. Shields is the son of Colleen and Chris Shields. He serves as the president of SODA and captain of the TIMMY SHIELDS

golf team. He also is a member of DECA, the National Honor Society and Beta. An entrepreneur at a young age, Shields is the co-owner of RVA Dronography, a real estate photography company that utilizes a drone. In his community, he is
a member of the Hanover Youth Service Council. As he looks to continuing his education, Shields said, “I will be attending UVA and I intend to major in business with a concentration in finance. I hope to one day to either become a business
consultant or hedge fund analyst.” The years at Atlee, he said, have been pleasant and memorable. “I have really enjoyed my time at Atlee and have met some unbelievable students and staff. They have helped mold me into the person I am today. I am truly honored to be the valedictorian.” Klesat’s parents are Glen and Heather Klesat. At Atlee, he has served as captain of the varsity soccer team and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society and Key Club. Community involvements include being a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a volunteer guardian for VFW Honor Flight Historic Triangle, volunteer buddy for the Richmond Kickers RVA Access, CVSRA
