Out with the old, in with the new By Jim Ridolphi for The Hanover Local ASHLAND -- The Hanover School Board approved two significant human resource items at its Tuesday, March 8, meeting. The first addressed the recent resignation of David Myers, assistant superintendent in charge of finance. The board accepted that notice of departure with regret. In an accompanying move, they also announced Myers’ replacement. Terry Stone is no stranger to Hanover County. She’s worked in county and school administration in past years and most viewed her hiring to fill Myers’ assistant superintendent role as a homecoming of sorts. “Ms. Stone is being welcomed to Hanover County, but, more specifically, she is being welcomed home,” Gill said. She served as director of finance for Hanover County Public Schools from 2008 to 2013, and director of finance for the county for three years before that assignment. She had worked for Hanover since 1988, and is a graduate of VCU as a CPA (certified public accountant). She served on the King William County Board of Supervisors and King William County School Board. She also served as chief financial officer for James City County Schools in Williamsburg. She comes to Hanover after serving as finance and budget director for Henrico County. Myers drew high praise from his colleagues

as he attended his final school board meeting in Hanover. His financial expertise and tireless work ethic were cited in board member comments regarding his departure to accept a similar position in Richmond. “Mr. Myers not only did his job, but he shoveled snow and picked up people who needed to be picked up,” said Hank Lowry, Ashland District. “We would be remiss if we didn’t thank Mr. Myers for going the extra mile.” see BOARD, pg. 2
