SHLAND – A familiar face is stepping in as a member of Ashland Town Council following the resignation of Faye O. Prichard. James Foley, a pricing director for Hunton & Williams LLP, was nominated and unanimously elected to serve as interim council member until the special election set for May. He previously served on town council. He fills the vacancy created by Prichard’s election on Nov. 3 to represent the Ashland District on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors. Five applications were received for the interim council

ANOVER -- An interim report on Hanover County’s latest reassessment figures reveals a continued upward trend in the value of the county’s real estate market. Although the increases were not spectacular, the increased assessed value equates to another year of recovery from the county’s peak period during 2009. Richard Paul, the county’s

director of real estate assessments, delivered the good economic news at a Hanover County Board of Supervisors meeting earlier last month. “Keep in mind that the county had its peak in 2009. After seven years we are still down about 1.36 percent. We are not back to where we were in 2009 but we are getting there,” Paul said. The 2016 interim report surveyed more than 7,300 parcels or about 15 percent of the county. see GROWTH, pg. 4 
