Bank fees - what are these? Many of us see on our bank statements at the end of every month many see bank fees.
they asked me to do and in the presentation I asked for no bank fees and a contribution towards legal fees for the clients.
A quick look at a client’s statement provided for a loan and it nearly blew me away, it had blown them away already.
I received the following mix from the four banks. • Bank A: $2,000 cash to pay for legal fees, no monthly bank fees as long as salary or wages were direct credited

PLUS their fixed rate mortgage was maturing. What set them over the top was that they were told there’d be a fixed rate fee to fix the mortgage for another term. These clients couldn’t believe that they were bringing a business, their business
and they were being charged to do so. There brief to me was to get them a good mortgage rate that gave them flexibility with no or low fees per month for their banking. On discussion with them they made the comment that Banks say that a mortgage is a commodity, like buying a television, but they charge you for the right to bring your business to them. Have you every purchased a television and been charged for the right to buy it? No. When putting the mortgage application together, I put it across four banks which
• Bank B: $2,000 towards legal fees, no monthly bank fees while the mortgage was in place. • Bank C: $500 contribution towards legal fees, no monthly bank fees while the mortgage was with them • Bank D: No bank fees while the mortgage was with the bank and salary direct credited to the bank The interest rates from these banks were all below their current carded interest rates and after going over with the clients they decided to take bank B’s offer. The interest rates offered were a better fit for them and gave them the flexibility they required.
