Local ownership gives a special edge When it comes to going the extra mile in business, you can’t beat a company that is locally owned and operated. That’s one of the hallmarks of the Ashburton business community, so much so, that locally owned and operated is almost a district byword. Walk into most businesses and you’re likely to be greeted by a familiar face. Chances are that familiar face belongs to the person who owns the business. Local ownership gives a busi-
ness a special edge, it means the people you choose to spend your money with have the same commitment to our district that you do. It’s their home, it’s the place they have chosen to raise a family and it’s the place they have chosen to establish a business, to make a living. Many of Ashburton’s locally owned and operated businesses can also boast a link with the district that spans several generations. Some names have been proudly displayed above the
door for decades. Strong, thriving, locally owned businesses are nutured by owners who go the extra mile for their customers by providing the first class service that establishes a solid reputation that in turn builds a loyal customer base. Locally owned businesses and their customers have a relationship that is built on trust and a shared commitment to their community, the place they all call home. Locally owned and operated busi-
nesses, however, would never thrive without a commitment from customers to shop locally. Every time business is taken out of town, dollars seep out of the local economy. Online shopping is here to stay, but it will never offer personal service, the opportunity to touch or view the goods you are buying and most of all, it will never provide the opportunity to share your business experience with a fellow local. You can’t beat the satisfaction of doing business with a local – just like you.
