MIDWEEK

DRUG DELIGHT Medical breakthrough for Methven brothers Hope. A four-letter word that was now able to be spoken with more assurance by the McLeod family from Methven. Young brothers Lincoln, 2, and Harlan, 8 months, pictured, today begin treatment with a trial drug to combat their debilitating and rare form of motor neurone disease. Everyone is delighted but frustration – and fear – still exists for mother, Lani McLeod. She is livid that the Government has been working at snail pace to announce a much-needed review of drug buying agency Pharmac, which would not fund the medicine her sons and others nationally needed for the disease. The Pharmac review won’t be completed for months. “People will die waiting,’’ McLeod said, firing a shot at Prime Minister Jacinda Adern and her team.
