“I voted for the original flag. I’m really pleased that we have kept it. It was a good idea to have the vote and let everyone have a choice but it was pretty obvious that New Zealand wanted the old flag. My grandfathers fought for the flag and all their medals have the old flag on it. He wouldn’t have been pleased if it was changed.”
“I voted for the new flag. It’s time for a change but I didn’t like the way the government went about it. The money could have been spent better, I’m not sure how but it could have been most cost effective. I did like the old flag but New Zealand needs a change. I didn’t vote in the first referendum but I did like the new one.”
“I voted for the new flag because change is good. The new flag had a bit more of New Zealand in it with the silver fern. I’m not really surprised with the result though because New Zealanders don’t like change.”
