The Ministry for Primary Industries wants to send a man who “traded in animal suffering” to jail for 14 months. The man and his wife ran a business selling end-of-life sheep for petfood and the couple have pleaded guilty in the Ashburton District Court to a total of eight charges of wilfully ill-treating sheep and transporting them in an unfit state to be slaughtered.
