The government has been urged by members of its own party to take action on water storage in Canterbury. Attendees at the National Party Mainland Conference in Ashburton on Saturday passed a remit that asked the government to initiate a significant increase in water storage in Canterbury. The proposal cited the severity of drought in the region and the impact of global warming as reasons to support the remit.
