Death of baby investigated A return to top form P18
Police are investigating the sudden death of a two-month-old baby in Rakaia on Saturday. Senior Sergeant Scott Banfield, of Ashburton, said police were notified that a baby had passed away suddenly in Rakaia at about midday on Saturday. “It is being treated as a sudden death by the Coronial Services Team. “We have police and detectives making a wide range of inquiries in relation
to that,” Senior Sergeant Banfield said. Some time over the next few days forensics will have completed their investigations and the Coronial Services Team will have more information about what happened, he said. “A number of police inquiries have been made.” They will not know anything more until after these investigations, Senior Sergeant Banfield said.
