Access Group (Oswestry and District) Oswestry and District Access Group is a voluntary group working to improve access and facilities for all those who are either resident in or visiting Oswestry. It is focused on supporting people with disabilities, the partially sighted and the hard of hearing, and parents with young children. The group works with the local authorities, providers of goods and services, and other organisations to meet the needs and solve the problems of access throughout the Oswestry area. Christian Aid (Oswestry and District) Oswestry and District Christian Aid is a branch of the national Christian Aid organisation. Christian Aid raises money to give practical help wherever it is needed in the World. The organisation also identifies need, and campaigns for an end to poverty, and the effects of poverty on communities. Christian Aid Week takes place in May each year, when a street collection will be held.

Dial-a-Ride (Oswestry) Oswestry Dial-a-Ride is an accessible minibus service operating within the town of Oswestry and the surrounding areas. Oswestry Dial-aRide works in the voluntary sector providing community transport for the disabled, the sick, the elderly and the rurally isolated. If you do not have the use of a car or you find it difficult or even impossible to use public transport, then this is the service for you.

How to apply for vehicle access (dropped kerb) - Shropshire To apply for a new or extended vehicle access (dropped kerb) in front of your home or business premises, you will need to complete an application form that can be found on the Shropshire Council website and then forward it to the Street Works team. There are full information and guidance notes which accompany the form, together with a summary of frequently asked questions with answers. These can be downloaded together with the form. Highways approval for a new or extended access is separate to planning permission, and it may be necessary to consult both parties before approval can be granted.

Planning permission may also be required for a new or extended vehicle access.

Border Field Club (Oswestry) Oswestry Border Field Club is dedicated to studying the flora and fauna of the Shropshire Borders. The Border Field Club began life in 1948 as the Oswestry branch of the British Naturalists’ Association. In 1982 the branch became an independent society. Oswestry Border Field Club meets on the first Saturday of the month when short walks within about 30 miles radius of Oswestry are undertaken with a view to enjoying the flora and fauna. Two or three coach trips are organised each year to places further afield.

Oswestry Ladies Choir Oswestry Ladies Choir evolved in the summer of 2015 from Oswestry Choral Society, which had been in continuous existence for over 125 years.

Dawn Jaffray has been the musical director since 2006, and has introduced the choir to a wide range of music from varying genres, including many pieces from living composers.

They perform two concerts a year, usually in the spring and around Christmas. They are available for performances on request, usually needing a couple of months’ notice to prepare.
