Iowa State Representative Jon Garton, who had a growing interest in video production, worked with the Dam Owner Outreach Committee to explore ways to create videos specific to dam owners. The work led to what would become ASDSO’s Dam Owner Academy, a series of educational YouTube® videos.
Nicole Chiles, Chair of the Young Professionals Interest Group, expressed an interest in documenting and sharing the career stories of leaders and innovators in the dam safety community. The Committee on Career Development and Student Outreach worked with interest group members to develop ASDSO’s official podcast, A Dam Conversation With...
Discussions on the importance of developing a single online repository for current guidelines and dam safety best practice information had been going on for many years and many independent efforts were being pursued. Jeremy Franz with the Colorado Dam Safety Program was the driving force behind bringing these efforts and volunteers together to complete the monumental task of developing the Dam Safety Toolbox.
ASDSO has recently launched our new Dam Safety Marketplace. The robust tool will provide a listing of product and service providers from throughout the dam safety community. Searching for a solution to fix your problem is easy and available at the local, state, or national level and can include topical areas as well.

To edit your profile, visit the ASDSO Portal at https://portal.damsafety.org.
Click the Login link, then enter the email address you used during the sign-up process. If you don’t remember your password (or if you were registered by someone else), click the Forgot Your Password link to request a reset. Once logged in, click the Profile square on the ASDSO Portal home screen to edit your account information.
SET UP YOUR COLLABORATE LOGIN
To join ASDSO Collaborate, click the Collaborate button on the top of our homepage (www.DamSafety.org) or from the ASDSO Portal home screen underneath the Profile square ( you will use the same login information you created in your ASDSO Portal ). After you’ve signed the Terms and Conditions, you can join Communities from the blue menu bar and set up your email digest preferences from the top dropdown menu under Profile → My Account → Community Notifications.
