2019 DESIGN/BUILD COMPETITION INITIAL PROBLEM STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION The 2019 ASC Region #3 Design/Build competition will be a new university residential housing project. Any and all proposals are to be prepared in accordance with specific criteria that will be distributed at the Pre-Bid Meeting on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 7:00 am. At that meeting, teams should present one (1) hard copy and one (1) electronic copy (on a flash drive) of the required prequalification information. The prequalification information shall include the following: -

Team member introductions General company overview Organizational chart for your project Completed AIA A-305 Contractor’s Qualification Statement

The maximum length of this document (not including the AIA A-305) shall be eight (8) 8 ½” x 11”, singlesided pages. Following the receipt and evaluation of your prequalification information and written proposals, schedules, estimates and design information, your team will be invited to present your qualifications and project proposal in person. You will also be asked to answer questions from the project’s selection committee. The selection committee will make an award after all presentations have been given and reviewed. SELECTION CRITERIA The successful design builder will be selected based on the following: -

Prequalification Submission Concept Design Cost Estimate Project Schedule Written Proposal Oral Presentation

OVERVIEW McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., as “Program Manager,” and on behalf of the University of IllinoisSpringfield, intends to procure a qualified design builder to provide services for a new university residence hall. This project includes the design and construction of a new building on a greenfield site to house four hundred fifty (450) beds for undergraduate students. The housing shall be a mixture of singleand double-occupancy, apartment-style units. The project shall also include administrative offices with support, a dividable multipurpose room, lounge areas, laundry facilities, and building infrastructure support spaces. More detailed information will be forthcoming within the RFP.
