Royal Ascot Owner & Trainer Information 2026

Page 1

Owner & Trainer Information

We are once again looking forward to welcoming you to the Royal Meeting in June.

There will be £10.65 million in prize money available across the five days, with 26 of the 35 races run for more in 2026 than they were last year. Every race will be run for at least £120,000 (up from £110,000 last year) with all eight Group 1 races now worth at least £700,000 (the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes are worth £1 million each).

One notable change to the race programme is that the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes will now be a sire-restricted race run over six furlongs after consultation with the British Horseracing Authority’s Flat Pattern Committee. Other minor changes include the Copper Horse Stakes Handicap now having a ratings cap of 100, from 105 last year, to support other high-value handicaps and Pattern races.

Meanwhile the Listed Chesham Stakes over seven furlongs will be the first race on Thursday now, with the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes over five furlongs opening proceedings on the Saturday, allowing our broadcast partners at NBC to showcase a key Breeders’ Cup Win & You’re In Challenge race across the main network.

Last year we were privileged to witness some of racing’s global superstars at the Royal Meeting with four of the top 15 turf horses in the world running at Royal Ascot, including Ombudsman (Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner) and Field Of Gold (St James’s Palace Stakes winner). The first-named contest was named the joint-eighth best race in the world

in 2025 at the Longines World Racing Awards whilst the Gold Cup, won by Trawlerman in a track-record time, was awarded the world’s best extended distance (stayers’) race.

We had participants trained in nine countries at last year’s Royal Meeting with an international flavour to the finish of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, as France’s Lazzat fought off Japan’s Satono Reve to claim victory. Australia’s defending champion Asfoora ran creditably in the King Charles III Stakes and later in the year won Group 1 races at York and Longchamp, showcasing the merits of a European sprint campaign throughout the summer and autumn. We also welcomed runners from the likes of Qatar, Germany and Norway as the Royal Meeting continues to shine as a global spectacle.

We hope to see you at Royal Ascot this summer.
