World Pool is a collaboration between the Hong Kong Jockey Club, TDCO Limited and Tpoolco Limited (together trading as “Tote”) and Ascot Racecourse. It enables racegoers to bet into a global pool consisting of over 20 countries, resulting in significantly bigger pools and increasing the total amount that can be won.
WIN, PLACE, FIRST TWO, FIRST THREE, TWO FROM THREE and the TREBLE will be the available World Pool bets on course and there are expected to be more than 30 races with pool sizes of over £1 million this year. Bet With Ascot screens will indicate pool sizes for each race.
The Placepot, Jackpot and Quadpot will be managed by using the standard Bet With Ascot rules.
Under World Pool rules, in races with exactly 7 declared runners, the place market will pay three places. The place terms for all races are as follows:

PRICE Another word for the odds of a horse
STARTING PRICE (SP) The odds of the horse at the start of the race
FAVOURITE The horse with the lowest official SP at the start of the race. Also known as ‘the jolly’
STAKE The amount of money you bet on a horse. At Bet With Ascot, your stake is included in your returns if you win
DIVIDEND The amount that a winning bet or placed horse returns for every £1 bet/stake
RETURN The total amount of money to be returned if a bet wins
VOID A bet that has been declared invalid. The stake is returned without deduction
FANCY A term for the horse you think is going to win
NAP The best bet of the day for a tipster
DRIFTER A horse who finds its price getting bigger prior to the beginning of the race
FORM Recent results of a horse
THEY’RE OFF A term for the start of the race ON THE NOSE This is when you’re backing the horse to win! ‘£10 on the nose’
A LENGTH (OF A HORSE) The distance metric used for the gap between horses
WEIGHED IN Official confirmation of the result. You will hear the announcement ‘weighed in’
STEWARDS ENQUIRY A review system that takes place after a race with jockeys to ensure the race has been run fairly. Can often lead to a delay in the final result
