What Is A Prison?

For some, it is drug addiction. For some, it is love. For some, it is a dependency on alcohol to get them through life. For some, it is the hate that they hold on to. For some, it is the obsession with wealth and good fortune. For some, it is the inability to distinguish what is real and what is only in their mind. For some, it is poverty and lack of basic life-sustaining things. For some, it is a disease that takes over their bodies and destroys what they need to survive. For some, it is of their own making— for which they sentence themselves to Life Without Parole. For some, it is the past that they can never forget. For some, it is the future, which they fear because they don’t know what’s to come.
For me, I have been in many prisons and probably will be in others in the future.
But if I can still write about them, then I will always be free.
