Celebrating 25 Years of Positive Change Moujan & Elham Vahdat Present

Changemaker Awards & Celebration Tuesday November 29, 2016 Tribeca Three Sixty° New York City

BENEFIT TING

We’ve Always Focused on Change In 1991, we opened our doors as a group of dedicated volunteers staring down the AIDS crisis. Twenty-five years later, we’re also helping those affected by chronic hepatitis, diabetes, addiction, and mental health issues to create a positive change. And today, we’re excited to announce the next chapter, and look forward to another 25 years and beyond as The Alliance for Positive Change. Building on our 25 years of HIV expertise, we’ve expanded our services and partnerships. We have acquired the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center (and needle exchange program), making their services a program of the Alliance. We created a Peer Training Institute and strengthened our Peer Power internships and back-to-work programs. We opened the Pelham Grand Supportive Housing center in the Bronx in 2014. We continue to partner with NYC’s biggest and best health systems – NewYork-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai, HHC, Bronx-Lebanon, Amida Care, Healthfirst, MetroPlus, SelectHealth, Institute for Family Health, and Ryan Health Center.

You too can become an ally and join us at The Alliance for Positive Change! Support the Alliance with a donation, by volunteering, or by joining our unique one-on-one mentoring program from the Peer Training Institute. Together, we are the Alliance.

November 29, 2016 Dear Friends, Welcome to ASCNYC’s 25th Anniversary Celebration & Changemaker Awards. • 25 years on the front lines of AIDS activism and social change. • 25 years demanding access to medications. • 25 years fighting bigotry, stigma and shame. • 25 years distributing clean needles to drug users. We’ve learned a lot in 25 years of helping individuals manage through HIV/AIDS. And we’re applying that experience, innovation, and knowledge to create positive change for a wider range of New Yorkers facing multiple chronic conditions. Beginning January 1, we’ll be called The Alliance for Positive Change. At the Alliance, the goal is the same: To move towards health, recovery, and a better future – and to create positive change for our clients, our city, and our world. Thank you for sharing this historic night with us and saluting our 2016 Changemaker Honorees: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Olympic Gold-Medalist Greg Louganis, and attorney Joseph Saltarelli, Hunton & Williams. Your partnership and support make our work possible. Now more than ever, it is vital for us to strengthen our Alliance —together we can build a powerful and lasting community where hope, health and positive change become paths to healing. Thank you for being our Ally. Sincerely,

William Toler, PA Board Chair

Sharen I. Duke, MPH Executive Director/CEO

New York Governor

Andrew M. Cuomo For his leadership in promoting the campaign to end the AIDS epidemic by 2020. Honoring The Alliance for Positive Change Social Impact Changemaker

Greg Louganis US Olympic Diving Gold Medalist

For his courage as an HIV+ and LGBTQ rights champion. Along with his HBO special and being included at long last on the Wheaties box of sports champions, Greg Louganis is a model of leadership, athleticism, mentorship, and giving back to the LGBTQ community.

November 29, 2016 Dear Friends: It is a great pleasure to join AIDS Service Center NYC in welcoming everyone to its Changemaker Awards Celebration. Our city is dedicated to ensuring that New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS have equal access to quality care, resources and affordable housing, and our outstanding medical professionals, hospitals, and clinics are committed to providing the highest standard of care to maintain their health and quality of life. For 25 years, AIDS Service Center NYC has been an important partner in these efforts by connecting New Yorkers living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS to the treatment and services that they need. Through its peer education and training programs, mental health services, counseling, specialized women’s services, support groups, and more, this organization is improving the lives of so many of our residents. New York has always been at the epicenter of the AIDS epidemic in the United States but we are also at the forefront of ending it. I am proud to join in applauding ASCNYC’s dedicated staff and supporters for their untiring efforts that strengthen the HIV community. On behalf of the City of New York, congratulations to all of tonight’s honorees and best wishes for a wonderful celebration. Sincerely,

Bill de Blasio Mayor
