2024. Annual Report

January 2024 – October 2024

Ascent Church

2961 Shore Dr. Virginia Beach, VA

Est. 2017

Psalm 134.

A song of ascents.

1 2 3 Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord.

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.

May the Lord bless you from Zion, he who is the Maker of heaven and earth.

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.” (Colossians 1:9-14)

I’m praying this verse over you and over our church. God put us here for a reason. I believe we are still just getting started. Whatever 2025 brings, I’m praying you live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way. Whatever 2025 brings, I’m praying you bear fruit in every good work. Whatever 2025 brings, I’m praying that you may know Him better. Whatever 2025 brings, I’m praying this is a year of strength, endurance, and patience.

I believe God has big things in store for us, both in 2025 and beyond. We hope you can view our Annual Report, seeing just a portion of what God has done. He is at work within us, and we give Him all the glory both now and forever. We are thankful that God has continued to move in the life of our church. Thank you for your sacrificial and consistent generosity and know that God works through your generosity to change lives. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can serve you in any way.

Stories

The person I was last year was full of fear and anxiety; always hiding things and lying to my parents, trying to become someone the world wanted me to be so I would feel cool and accepted. Now, I’m actively involved in Ascent Students and A-Kids and coming to service every Sunday and the more I learn about Jesus, the more I want to live for Him. I want to be baptized as a way to publicly commit my life to serving the Lord and continuing to grow in my relationship with Him.

I

have a deep belief that He is protecting me through every storm. “

On June 4th I was at Ascent during a service when I got a phone call that my dad was being rushed to the hospital back home in Indiana. He passed away, very unexpectedly, a week later. This has been super difficult to navigate and I have been having a really hard time handling everything. Before moving to Virginia last year, I never went to church. And I never gave much thought to religion. But since moving here and becoming a member of Ascent, I have really leaned on God and His message and I have a deep belief that He is protecting me through every storm. I was baptized in a catholic church when I was an infant, but this time I am making a conscious choice to declare my faith in Him. Nicole Dewes

We are a cooperative of independent churches from different denominations, networks, and backgrounds who strategically resource church planters and pastors to help them reach people with the message of Jesus. We do this by providing relationships, resources, and opportunities to leaders of new and existing churches so that they can thrive.

“…and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:12-14)

Let us give joyful thanks to the Father. Let us never forget the gospel: that He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of His Son.

Let us press forward to be who He calls us to be and go where He calls us to go.

I invite you to be a part of what God is doing here at Ascent Church. If you don’t already, I invite you to call Ascent Church your church and your home. I invite you to pray for the future of this city. I invite you to fight for the next generation. I invite you to honor God by investing financially here. If led, you can support this ministry by going to ascentchurch.net and schedule monthly giving online to prepare the way for God to move in this city.

We believe we are now better positioned than ever to make an increasing impact for the Gospel. Thank you for every prayer, every invitation to a friend, every small group meeting, and every interaction on social media. Thank you for every financial investment you have given to make this move of the Gospel a reality. God is working through you. We truly believe our best days are ahead and cannot wait to see what He has in store for us in 2025.
