IT’S HEALTHY TO EAT TOG ETHER

When we eat meals together with others, we think more about how much and what we are eating – quite simply, we eat in a more health-conscious way. Sharing a meal also strengthens relationships and a sense of family togetherness. The food is, of course, the focus, but the togetherness and atmosphere are of enormous importance. Telling one another about your day and taking the time to have meaningful conversations helps to make mealtimes incredibly valuable for the family and the family’s overall development.

Når vi spiser sammen med andre, tænker vi mere over, hvor meget og hvad vi spiser – vi spiser simpelthen sundere. De fælles måltider styrker også relationerne og nærværet i familien. Maden er naturligvis i fokus, men samværet og stemningen har kolossal betydning. The BITZ collection consists of cutlery, dinnerware, bowls, glasses, vases, textiles and much, much more. Different materials contribute structures and colours that create contrasts in the table setting and help make the meal an experience. An experience where time spent around the table is enjoyable, and our tummies have enough time to register a pleasant feeling of fullness. This is one of the keys to a healthier life, as Christian Bitz explains:

“When we eat, we need to tantalise more than just our taste buds. This can make mealtimes a better experience, so you’ll want to spend longer savouring the food. This makes it easier to control portion sizes, because it takes the body 20 minutes from the first bite of food until the brain registers the feeling of fullness – and, during that time, you can easily end up eating too much. You don’t have to be ascetic, as long as you eat a good variety of smaller portions. For many people, something as simple as just eating a little less can have a huge effect on their figure, shape and future.”

BITZ-kollektionen består af bestik, stel, skåle, glas, vaser, tekstiler og meget, meget mere. ”Når vi spiser, skal mere end blot smagsløgene pirres. På den måde kan måltidet blive en bedre oplevelse, der giver lyst til at bruge længere tid på at nyde maden. Det gør det lettere at få styr på portionerne, fordi det tager kroppen 20 minutter fra første bid mad, til mæthedssignalerne når hjernen – og på den tid kan du let komme til at spise for meget. Du behøver ikke være asketisk, bare du spiser varieret og i mindre mængder. For mange mennesker kan noget så enkelt som at spise lidt mindre have stor betydning for figur, form og fremtid.”

SET A COLOURFUL TABLE

The table setting is absolutely central to the meal. Stimulate the senses with contrasts, to the delight of yourself and those you eat with. The extensive and diverse BITZ range includes plates, bowls, dishes, mills, cups, glasses and much more to excite the eye and stimulate the sense of taste during dinner. Adding some decorations like candles in candlesticks and flowers in vases also appeals to all senses and lifts the experience. And you could sip some after-dinner coffee from colourful mugs. We’re continually adding stylish new items to the collection, so there’s even more reason to mix and match colours, sizes, textures and materials.

For this season, we have expanded the Kusintha range with lovely stackable café glasses, as well as round and rectangular serving platters in the same elegant colours as the rest of the glass collection. In the stoneware series, we are introducing a new practical 18 cm bowl, smaller than the salad bowls, larger than the small bowls in the series, taller and more spacious than the pasta bowl - in short, the perfect size for soups and meal salads. Additionally, the rectangular oven dishes, which are ideal for lasagna, are back in two sizes. All the new additions come in the familiar colour combinations. The following pages present the entirety of our large collection.

Til denne sæson har vi udvidet Kusintha-serien med flotte, stabelbare caféglas samt runde og rektangulære serveringsfade i de samme fine farver som den øvrige glaskollektion. I stentøjsserien lancerer vi en ny praktisk 18 cm skål, mindre end salatskålene, større end seriens små skåle, højere og mere rummelig end pastaskålen, kort sagt den perfekte størrelse til supper og måltidssalater. MY INSPIRATION COMES FROM NATURE

BITZ – AN INNOVATIVE HEALTH REALIST

Christian Bitz holds a master’s degree in human nutritional science. His goal is to make the population healthier. Health must be based on solid science, and it should feel great for the individual. Bitz has managed to pull the health wave in a realistic direction, where it is actually possible to start a healthier life – it has to be fun, and the switch to healthier living must be driven by desire.

“Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. Every time I exercise in nature, I get inspired. I love the unpredictability and imperfection of nature, which I try to incorporate into our designs when we combine materials and colours. Plates in different colours give you more options when arranging your food. Broccoli on a black surface looks different than it does on a green one. Team the plates with colourful glasses and cutlery in different materials and enjoy how beautiful your dinnertime can be.”

Christian Bitz er uddannet cand.scient. i human ernæring. Hans mål er at gøre befolkningen sundere. Sundhed skal baseres på solid videnskab og føles fantastisk for den enkelte. “Naturen er min største inspirationskilde. Hver gang jeg dyrker motion i naturen, bliver jeg inspireret. Jeg er vild med naturens uforudsigelighed og uperfekthed, som jeg forsøger at indarbejde i vores designs, når vi kombinerer materialer og farver. The new bowl in BITZ’s vibrant stoneware series has exactly the size you’ve been missing. 18 cm in diameter, tall, spacious, and perfect for soups, meal salads, and, for example, a poke bowl or the Japanese noodle soup ramen.

The beautiful rectangular oven trays in two sizes invite delicious oven dishes and have the perfect proportions for, for example, lasagna sheets. Made of stoneware with a matte exterior and a glossy coloured glaze on the interior.

All BITZ stoneware products feature the gorgeous reactive glaze that gives each product its own unique look. The glazes –matte and glossy – react in different ways during the firing process, the shades and patterns vary, and we guarantee that all products are completely unique. The colours of the Kusintha glass range are matched to the glaze colours of the stoneware. Mixing the two materials turns the entire table setting into something special.

KUSINTHA

CREATE CHANGE SUPPORT KUSINTHA

Kusintha is an ongoing support project that was started in 2018 by Christian Bitz and his girlfriend Lisette Rützou. Kusintha focuses on the world’s poorest areas, including establishing local wells with clean drinking water, improving crop security and ensuring that children are given the opportunity to attend kindergarten and school.

In the poorest countries of Africa, the majority of the rural population live as smallholder farmers in small villages where basic needs such as water and food are in short supply. Food and water shortages pose particular challenges here. For this reason, Kusintha aims to install local wells in the poorest areas.

From 2018 to 2021, more than DKK 700,000 has been raised for vital projects. Kusintha’s projects include helping to establish 9 wells, improving crop security and building a kindergarten in Malawi. The continued goal of the project is to donate more than DKK 200,000 per year via the sale of Kusintha products.

GASTRO

The combination of the matte exterior and the glossy, coloured glaze on the inside makes each piece of Gastro stoneware unique, and there are no two with exactly the same appearance. Because of the reactive glaze, all BITZ stoneware has different scratches, marks and patterns in the glaze. The same goes for the glossy, stained glaze on the inside. This is precisely what gives the collection a vibrant and special look when you pair different pieces together with each their own unique looks. The stoneware is dishwasher, microwave and oven-safe up to 220 degrees.

BASIC

This stoneware is made with a beautiful, reactive glaze that gives the products extra glow and makes each piece unique. There will be visible scratches and irregularities – and they are not flaws. The stoneware is dishwasher, microwave and oven-safe up to 220 degrees.

CUTLERY

STEEL

The steel cutlery is dishwasher-safe and will eventually achieve a beautiful patina.

GLASS

KUSINTHA

The Kusintha range is made of traditional glass and coloured recycled glass. The Kusintha glass range is not intended for professional use in canteens or catering, but can handle being washed about 200 times in a household dishwasher on the delicate program. The glass range is not oven or microwave-safe.

BASIC

BITZ glass products are made of European glass, which is characterised by its high quality. When washing in a dishwasher, choose a low-alkaline dish detergent and select a fast program at low temperature. Salt should be added to the dishwasher, and for washing lead-free crystal, it is a good idea to add half a decilitre of wine vinegar at a low temperature. The range’s glass is dyed which means that the pieces will not lose colour by being washed in the dishwasher.

BLACK AND BRASS

The cutlery is not dishwasher-safe and it is recommended that you clean it by hand wash only.

Glasserien tåler ikke ovn og mikrobølgeovn.

BASIC

BITZ-glasvarerne er fremstillet af europæisk glas, som er karakteriseret ved sin høje kvalitet. Ved vask i opvaskemaskine kan du med fordel vælge et lavalkalisk opvaskemiddel og benytte et kort program ved lav temperatur. Desuden skal der være salt i opvaskemaskinen, og når du vasker miljøkrystal, er det en god idé at tilsætte en halv deciliter vineddike til maskinen ved lav temperatur. Seriens farvede glas er gennemfarvet, hvilket betyder, at delene ikke mister farve ved at blive vasket i opvaskemaskine.

Stålbestikket tåler opvaskemaskine og vil med tiden opnå en smuk patina.

SORT OG MESSING

Bestikket tåler ikke opvaskemaskine, og det anbefales udelukkende at vaske det op i hånden.
