Dear Partners,

Leader of ASBIS Enterprise

ASBIS is driven by technology. Our investment philosophy centres around investing in innovative companies that contribute to the betterment of the community through their innovations. ASBIS investment strategy prioritizes corporate partnerships as opposed to passive investments, with a focus on companies where our expertise and professional guidance can have a meaningful impact. Being an investor for ASBIS means becoming a mentor for investee companies: always seek to have a say, but we don’t dictate our opinion. Moreover, having significant expertise in supply chain management, we share this expertise with investee startups. ASBIS remains actively engaged in mentoring and participating in all key initiatives aimed at nurturing and advancing the technology ecosystem of Cyprus. Some of the most recent ones include: sponsoring the Junior Achievement startup program and university competitions for students, membership in TechIsland, a non-profit organization which aims to transform Cyprus into the tech island of Europe; contributing to the development of a high-tech park in Cyprus.

Siarhei Kostevitch

Chief Executive Officer ASBIS Group

ASBIS VP Talks ICT Trends and Future Plans ASBIS Vice President Hesham Tantawi provides valuable insights into the ever-changing landscape of the ICT industry and shares the strategic vision guiding ASBIS's path forward. Discover the evolving technology trends and the company's ambitious plans for the future in this informative discourse. You've been a part of the tech industry for quite some time. Can you share your insights on how the market trends, especially in the ICT ecosystem, have evolved over the past 4-5 years in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE? Certainly. Over the last five years, we've witnessed significant changes in the ICT industry, although it's worth noting that this is a relatively short timeframe considering the industry's three-decade history. Three key factors stand out during this period: increased consideration, maturation, and stabilization. The industry has seen more attention, a maturing of technologies, and greater stability. The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant disruptions. Do you believe that, despite the challenges, stability has returned to the ICT ecosystem? The pandemic had a unique impact on the ICT sector. It was, in many ways, a boon for IT professionals, as the demand for IT services and products surged due to remote work and increased mobility. Investments in IT infrastructure were made during the pandemic. However, post-COVID, we observed a return to pre-pandemic levels. What's crucial in this dynamic industry is staying ahead of market changes. Those who adapt quickly can thrive, while those who lag behind risk getting left behind. When it comes to ASBIS, where do you see the company positioned within the distribution sector of the ICT ecosystem?

ASBIS has been a stalwart in the IT distribution industry for over 30 years, with a strong presence in the UAE for 22 of those years. We've consistently ranked among the top three distributors in the region. Our strength lies in our ability to adapt. We are a multinational company, but we localize ourselves in each market we serve. We move with the market and often ahead of it. Are there any specific technology segments that ASBIS is looking to focus on in the coming years?

ASBIS follows the motto "success through focus." We establish vertical groups within our company to pursue specific businesses. Recently, we ventured into audio with premium brands like LOEWE and Bang & Olufsen. We're also investing in robotics, with expectations of strong results in the near future. Additionally, we are focusing on "Green IT," including solar energy and extending the life of older products, aligning with global green initiatives. Speaking of partnerships, are there any new collaborations or partnerships on the horizon for ASBIS?

We're always open to strategic partnerships that provide mutual value. We've recently formed partnerships with Dahua and Lexar, among others. We prioritize partnerships with key players in each market, and this approach has been a cornerstone of our success.

Hesham Tantawi Vice President Middle East & Africa ASBIS Middle East

Thriving Amid Market Challenges ASBIS continues to excel despite market challenges, prioritizing strong partnerships and adaptability for sustained growth. Discover their winning strategy in this insightful interview with Sanja Horylova, Sales Director at ASBIS Middle East FZE. Could you share some success stories or case studies that illustrate how ASBIS has brought value to its clients and partners through its products and solutions?

Certainly. Over the past year, the tech industry faced significant challenges due to supply chain disruptions and fluctuating vendor strategies. Customers and partners were understandably concerned about losses and the quality of products from various regions. However, this adversity prompted our suppliers to make necessary corrections. During this period, while the market was oversupplied, we stood alongside our customers and partners to minimize their exposure to losses. Our primary goal was to shift from survival mode to reducing losses.

Sanja Horylova

Sales Director

ASBIS Middle East

After six months, we witnessed remarkable changes in our suppliers' pricing strategies and product portfolios, all occurring within a month. ASBIS has been successful by focusing on industry trends, learning from past experiences, and continuously striving to improve. We supported our partners during challenging times when many businesses were declining. As the market dynamics shifted again, we helped our partners navigate through price fluctuations, ensuring they could manage price increases more effectively. Currently, we're facing a situation where supply chains are disrupted, prices are uncertain, and commitments are challenging. In this scenario, we are committed to keeping our word, explaining, and educating our partners about the importance of securing goods at a certain price. We're actively registering and finalizing projects that were approved in the past year, advising against further delays, as extended delivery times could result in higher costs. To sum it up, in just one year, we've adapted to three entirely different market scenarios, benefiting not only our partners but also our suppliers. Nurturing strong relationships with vendors is vital in distribution. How does ASBIS sustain partnerships with key vendors to ensure a consistent supply of products? Building and maintaining strong relationships with our vendors is a priority for ASBIS. Even during periods of oversupply, our focus remains on their products and positioning them effectively in the market. This approach fosters loyalty among our partners both to the vendors and to us. Our relationships extend beyond mere transactions; they encompass a complete understanding of the market, including regional nuances and specific customer needs. We strive to provide our partners with opportunities for up-selling, allowing them to offer additional solutions to their customers. Providing constant feedback, both analytical and empathetic, is integral to our vendor relationships. We put ourselves in their shoes, understanding their challenges and collaborating with them to find solutions. This unwavering support for our suppliers demonstrates our commitment, whether during good or challenging times. ASBIS views difficult periods as opportunities to learn and strengthen our relationships.

Ink to Innovation: ASBIS Middle East's Printing Division Strategy Explore the visionary strategies of ASBIS Middle East's Printing Division, as Sales Director Ahmed Naiem shares insights on their journey towards progress. Discover exclusive partnerships, regional expansion, and innovation in the Middle East market. Could you please elaborate on the involvement of the printing division in shaping ASBIS Middle East's overarching business strategy? ASBIS Middle East has a unique approach to our printing division. We are an exclusive and strategic partner with Lexmark, a leading printing manufacturer. This exclusivity with Lexmark is a testament to our loyalty and commitment to our partners. In the past, we had several brands in our portfolio, but we made a strategic decision to focus solely on Lexmark. This focus aligns with our commitment to profitability and performance throughout the Middle East. Our top management places significant emphasis on Lexmark, considering it one of ASBIS's strategic brands for profitability.

Ahmad Naiem

Sales Director ASBIS Middle East

In comparison to preceding years, what sets apart the performance of ASBIS Printing Division in 2023?

In 2023, our printing division has a clear plan to expand our presence and partnerships in countries where printing and paper-based workflows are still prevalent. We're placing a particular focus on key countries like Kuwait and Egypt. We've successfully forged partnership agreements with significant customers who have the potential to engage in substantial deals. This expansion strategy has already yielded positive results in Kuwait and Egypt, along with our continued focus on our core market, Saudi Arabia.

Could you please provide examples of collaborations or partnerships undertaken by ASBIS's printing division to enhance its business outreach and capabilities?

Certainly. As mentioned earlier, we are actively seeking partnerships with end-users who have significant printing requirements. In Egypt, we entered into a successful partnership with RAYA, a major partner, to supply 12,000 printers to the Egyptian post office. This project marked a significant milestone in our presence in the Egyptian market. Simultaneously, we secured a partnership with DR and Petku for the MOF Kuwait Catalogue. Through this collaboration, we successfully secured a contract with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in Kuwait, winning six printer categories in these two countries. We are also looking to expand our presence in Saudi Arabia and have established a strong partnership with Aranco Saudi and Rajhi Bank, solidifying our position as their primary printing partner.

Looking ahead, what do you foresee as the major challenges for ASBIS's printing division in the Middle East? How do you plan to address them to sustain the growth of the business? One of the key challenges we face in the Middle East is the global trend towards paperless solutions. Many countries in the region are transitioning away from paper-based systems. While this is a positive development for them, it poses a challenge for our printing division. Our primary focus is on countries like Egypt, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, where paper-based systems are still prevalent. To sustain our growth, we plan to collaborate with customers who are looking to make this transition but still require printing solutions for certain tasks. We're also exploring opportunities to reduce printing costs per page and promote sustainable printing practices. Our aim is to continue serving the paper-based countries while also adapting to the changing landscape by offering innovative and cost-effective printing solutions. Additionally, we are actively exploring partnerships and projects to tap into the opportunities in paperless countries, ensuring we maximize our presence in the region. ʺʼˇʸˋ ʸʷʼˇʼ˂ˁ ʤʩ

Technology is moving at a rapid pace. What kind of demands do you see in CPUs from your customers now, and how are you catering to those demands? Customer demands are in constant flux, mirroring Intel's ever-evolving CPU portfolio. Intel releases new generations, such as the 10th, 11th, and 12th, and customers swiftly embrace these advancements. However, it's important to note that previous CPU generations don't fade away completely; there's still demand for them. In fact, we continue to receive requests for CPUs spanning several generations. Our challenge is to meet the needs of customers seeking both older and the latest CPU generations. For instance, even with the 13th generation CPUs available, we still have customers interested in the 10th generation, and with the 14th generation on the horizon, it's clear that demand spans the entire spectrum.

With Gitex approaching, how are you showcasing your CPUs domain at the event? We have allocated a substantial space at Gitex, featuring dedicated sections for all our brands. Intel, for instance, will have its own distinct area where we'll spotlight various Intel products to captivate the audience. Given the event's strong turnout, we anticipate a significant outreach for Intel products.

4th Gen Intel Xeon Outperforms Competition on Real-World Workloads With the launch of 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors in January 2023, Intel delivered significant advancements in performance with industry-leading Intel accelerator engines and improved performance per watt across key workloads like AI, data analytics, high performance computing (HPC) and others. The industry has taken notice: 4th Gen Xeon has seen a rapid ramp, global customer adoption and leadership performance on a myriad of critical workloads for a broad range of business use cases. Today, after weeks of rigorous and comprehensive head-to-head testing against the most comparable competitive processors, Intel is sharing compelling results that go far beyond simple industry benchmarks. “We said it at launch, and we now have the concrete data to prove it true, 4th Gen Xeon is leading the industry in powering the workloads that matter most to customers,” said Lisa Spelman, corporate vice president and general manager of Intel Xeon Products. “Like every credible news story, data-driven proof points help dispel misconceptions and demonstrate Xeon’s continued value and leadership over the competition. In Mainstream Compute, Faster Time to Insights and Access to Data The most commonly deployed solutions in the market are delivered on mid-range core counts, a segment where per-core performance, power and throughput are critical key performance indicators. Knowing this, Intel compared a 32-core 4th Gen Xeon against the competition’s best mainstream 32-core part. General-purpose benchmarks like SPEC CPU are important, but don’t tell the whole performance story for customers whose workload needs continue to evolve. The reality is that on workloads that matter most to customers, such as database, networking and storage, Xeon easily beats the competition by offering greater CPU performance, higher performance per watt and lower overall total cost of ownership (TCO). Furthermore, customers see important sustainability benefits in the form of reduced server numbers, fleet power usage and CO2 emissions.

Increased AI Efficiency Improves Customer Experience, Drives Revenue Growth Xeon is architected for AI, and Intel’s investment in software enables and optimizes AI across all major frameworks, libraries and model types. Intel’s testing demonstrates its continued CPU leadership on AI workloads leveraging its advanced hardware acceleration technology, Intel® Advanced Matrix Extensions (Intel® AMX). More cores aren’t always the answer to achieve optimal performance. Intel® AMX allows 4th Gen Xeon to scale at an incredible rate, beyond what’s possible with core counts alone. This leading Intel AI engine is built into each Xeon core, something the competition does not have and its customers cannot benefit from.

HPC Leadership Delivers Better Performance for Modeling, Forecasting, Predictive Simulations When testing industry-specific HPC workloads, Intel pitted its 56-core Intel® Xeon® CPU Max Series processor featuring Intel® AVX-512 against the competition’s top-bin 96-core offering. By combining the best of compute with high memory bandwidth and Intel HPC engines, Xeon Max CPUs drive a 40% performance advantage over the competition in many real-world HPC workloads, such as earth systems modeling, energy and manufacturing.
