Middle School English as an Additional Language Teacher Middle & High School Middle & High School Principal December 2024 - June 2025

Position Overview: The American School of Bombay seeks a passionate and adaptable EAL (English as an Additional Language) educator to join our team of dedicated international professionals. This role involves supporting English language learners to thrive academically and socially within a dynamic, inclusive middle school learning environment.

Program Overview: The EAL program at ASB integrates language learners into the school's academic and social community through targeted support and collaboration with subject-area educators. EAL teachers provide individualized and group instruction, design lessons, assess progress, and partner with classroom teachers to meet evolving student needs.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities listed below collectively contribute to the comprehensive support, academic success, and integration of EAL students within the ASB community.

Teaching & Learning: ● Use diverse teaching strategies to offer targeted intervention and language support. ● Implement differentiated instruction to meet students' unique learning needs. ● Continuously reflect and refine practices based on evidence and new research. ● Stay current through professional development in the field.

Student Support: ● Develop and implement individualized learning plans based on data and student profiles. ● Conduct culturally responsive assessments, including placement and formative evaluations. ● Document student progress and maintain up-to-date records.

Case Management: ● Serve as the primary case manager for assigned EAL students. ● Coordinate with student support services practitioners for effective intervention planning. ● Provide regular updates and written reports to parents and teachers.

Collaboration & Communication: ● Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate EAL strategies into subject-area classes. ● Participate in professional meetings and coaching sessions. ● Communicate regularly with colleagues and parents on student progress and program updates.

Student Wellbeing: ● Support new EAL students and families in their transition to ASB. ● Engage in student supervision during breaks, transitions, and extracurricular activities. ● Contribute to co-curricular programs and experiential learning trips as needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: ● ● ●

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program and teaching certification.

Prior relevant teaching experience in a K12 accredited school.

Knowledge of EAL instructional strategies and best practices.
