POSITION SUMMARY
The American School of Bombay (ASB) seeks a collaborative and student-centered High School Counselor to join its international community of educators The Counselor supports students’ academic, social-emotional, and postsecondary success through a comprehensive counseling program that includes advisory, student support services, college counseling, and transition planning
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The minimum qualifications are:
● A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
● Current professional school counselor credential
● A minimum of three years of relevant counseling experience in a K–12 accredited school.
We seek educators who:

● Build trusting relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
● Exercise sound judgment in complex or sensitive situations.
● Understand adolescent development and apply effective counseling practices to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth
● Demonstrate expertise in adolescent wellbeing, safeguarding, and postsecondary planning
● Leverage technology to support digital citizenship, student wellbeing, and postsecondary readiness
● Foster an inclusive and supportive school community where all students feel a sense of belonging
● Engage in continuous professional learning, reflection, and growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Leadership and Schoolwide Responsibilities:
● Contribute to the High School Leadership Team, Student Safeguarding Team, and Crisis Response Team to support student wellbeing and safety, and to support schoolwide initiatives
● Support the development and implementation of student support systems, policies, and procedures
Counseling Program and Student Support:
● Deliver crisis intervention and coordinate support plans for students.
● Coordinate the Student Success Team process and related student interventions.
● Consult with students, families, teachers, and specialists to identify and address student needs
● Coordinate specialized support services with external providers and agencies
● Support the Grade-Level Advisory Program and facilitate the Senior Seminar Program
Academic Planning and Scheduling:
● Guide students and families in academic planning, course selection, and scheduling
● Manage course registration, schedule changes, transfers, and withdrawals.
● Monitor academic progress and graduation readiness, developing intervention plans when needed.
College and Postsecondary Counseling:
● Guide students and families in identifying best-fit postsecondary pathways
● Manage all aspects of the college application process
● Maintain college counseling resources and update the ASB School Profile
● Build relationships with university representatives and coordinate informational programs
● Interpret standardized assessment data and coordinate testing processes.
Student Transitions and Community Engagement:
● Support new student onboarding, placement, and transition to ASB
● Coordinate the transition from Grade 8 to Grade 9 in partnership with the Middle School Counselor
● Chaperone experiential learning programs and support co-curricular activities that extend student learning and engagement
