A Life Transformed By Faith

Chansreyna’s journey didn’t begin with a calling; it began with loss and loneliness. As a young girl in rural Cambodia, she often felt invisible and powerless. Before Chansreyna could even start school, her mother fell gravely ill, and despite the family’s desperate efforts, she only got weaker.

In the midst of despair, a Christian friend invited Chansreyna to church. There, she asked strangers to pray for her mother’s healing. Soon her worst fear came true; she was sent to live with a distant relative in Phnom Penh, and learned her mother had passed away.

Amid the grief, a light appeared. Her relative enrolled her at ASAP supported Chamroeun Phal Adventist School. For the first time, Chansreyna felt safe, cared for, and loved, not just by her teachers and peers, but by God. By Grade 5, she had chosen to be baptized, giving her life to Him.

The years ahead tested her faith, especially in jobs that pressured her to compromise her beliefs. She prayed, waited, and trusted God’s timing. Eventually, she returned to Chamroeun Phal, this time as an ASAP teacher, nurturing children facing the same struggles she once knew intimately.

Chansreyna is living proof of what God can do when a vulnerable child is nurtured with discipleship and education. ASAP Ministries’ mission schools are transforming overlooked children into missionaries who can impact the world!

Where Danger Meets Devotion

As conflict erupted and airstrikes thundered near Phay Daik* village in Myanmar, believers fled into the forests and the mountains. ASAP church planter, Wendy May,* sought temporary refuge in a nearby village. Here she looked for ways to encourage those around her.

Three months later, a few families cautiously returned to Phay Daik, but the ongoing conflict made it unsafe for Wendy to return alone. It was the height of the rainy season, and the roads were thick with mud, impassable to motorcycles or carts.

Each Friday, two young women walked nearly 2.5 hours round-trip along those muddy roads to escort Wendy back, so the small group of believers could worship together on Sabbath.

Wendy began praying for new contacts in Phay Daik. Soon, a woman named Moe Thida* approached her

Chosen to Serve

Lu A Su grew up in a Vietnamese village, farming with his family, and keeping Sunday as their holy day. Life was simple until one night, a dream changed everything. He saw Jesus descending from the sky,

with heartfelt questions about the Bible. Because of possible family opposition and the constant threat of airstrikes, they often met quietly under the moonlight, lamps forbidden, and studied the Bible together. Today, Moe Thida is preparing for baptism.

and a voice warned, “If you don’t change your belief, you will be lost.”

Lu A Su was shaken. He prayed, repented, and began studying the Bible. Slowly, he discovered the Sabbath and a peace he had never known. He began worshiping at home with his family and a few friends, but not everyone welcomed his new faith. Former church members reported him to the authorities, and Lu A Su was arrested on false charges. In jail, he was threatened with prison and forced to stand on his toes for an hour. But he was not afraid, “I am at peace with God,” he said. After four days, he was released.

Through that trial, Lu A Su met ASAP Field Supervisor Pastor Ha A Denh and Pastor Tran. Together, they started Bible studies, and soon Lu A Su fully embraced the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Today, Lu A Su is serving as an ASAP church planter, sharing Jesus with his village. God is ever at work calling the marginalized and transforming them into missionaries!

A Quiet Miracle in Cambodia

At 78 years old, Ms. Chhim Tha lives alone in a small, worn room on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Years of hardship are etched across her face, revealing deep physical and emotional needs. A single mother and lifelong Buddhist, she survives by gathering vegetables from nearby fields and selling them at the market each day. Despite her high blood pressure and fading strength, she keeps working simply because she has no other choice. Her daughter lives far away and, until recently, was unable to help.

When ASAP medical missionary Chan Phally began visiting Ms. Chhim Tha regularly, everything started to change.

From Pain to Purpose

In northeastern Thailand, a woman named Mae Leung walked into a small church, an act that would soon transform her life and the lives of those in her community. For years, she had struggled with pain, loneliness, and alcohol, earning a reputation as the village drunk. Despite caring for her home and four grandchildren, she felt hopeless.

Curious about a nearby church led by ASAP church planter Kanya Khamlom, Mae Leung began attending

Each day, Chan stopped by to check on her, pray with her, and provide simple hot and cold water treatments. She listened to Ms. Chhim Tha’s story, shared encouragement from the Bible, and introduced her to God’s love. Over time, Ms. Chhim Tha’s blood pressure improved, and her loneliness began to fade. Soon, she accepted an invitation to attend church. Three months later, with tears of gratitude, she chose to follow Jesus and was baptized.

evangelistic meetings, often still drunk. Instead of turning her away, the church loved her as she was. Kanya and the congregation prayed for her, asking God to give her a new heart, and He answered. One Sabbath, Mae Leung arrived sober for the first time. Through continued prayer and support, she soon gave up drinking entirely!

Her transformation was striking. The once-despairing woman now radiated joy. A few months later, she was baptized. Today, Mae Leung serves her church by preparing meals and visiting neighbors, sharing God’s love, singing, and praying with families.

Mae Leung’s story reflects ASAP Ministries’ mission of bringing hope to the forgotten through Christ. Through your prayers and gifts, local missionaries are guiding broken people to faith in God in communities across Southeast Asia.

Transforming Lives and Raising Up Missionaries

At ASAP Ministries, we are constantly amazed by what God is doing through your partnership. This month’s stories of Mae Leung in Thailand and Chansreyna in Cambodia are just two examples of how lives are being transformed and how those who were once overlooked are becoming missionaries in their communities. Through local missionaries, individuals who were once hurting and marginalized are finding hope and purpose. Some find freedom from struggles that seemed impossible to overcome. Others, nurtured in our mission schools,

grow into compassionate teachers who guide the next generation in faith. What these stories have in common is the power of Christ to redeem and equip ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Your support makes this possible. Every prayer, every gift, and every act of encouragement strengthens local missionaries as they disciple new believers, care for vulnerable children, and bring God’s love to communities across Southeast Asia. You are helping turn despair into joy, and ordinary lives into vessels for God’s work.

At ASAP Ministries, we see firsthand that no life is too broken, no child too overlooked, and no community too remote for God’s transformative power. Together, we are raising up a generation of believers who have not only changed themselves but are changing the world around them.

Thank you for walking alongside us in this mission.

For His Glory,
