Orgl-Werk in der Stimmung bis ins hohe D inclusive: wobey auch in der Tiefen Oktav das fis und gis mit gebrochenen Clavibus verstanden: nach dem von beeden contrahirenden Theilen unterschriebenen Riß mit nachstehenden 26 Registern zu verfertigen und längstens von heut an über ein Jahr in mentionirten Gottes-Hauß aufzusetzen.

DEUTSCH FRANZ HASELBÖCK in Maria Langegg (Niederösterreich) geboren, studierte an der Wiener Musikakademie bei den Professoren Pach und Heiller. Als er 1960 bei der Internationalen Sommerakademie in Holland den ersten Preis erringen konnte, begann auch seine internationale Laufbahn als Organist.

Seitdem spielte er viele Konzerte, Rundfunkund Schallplattenaufnahmen im In- und Ausland.

Sein Interesse gilt aber auch dem Cembalo und unveröffentlichten und weniger gespielten Werken aller Stilrichtungen. Seit 1968 wirkt er als Professor für Musikerziehung und Orgel an der Pädagogischen Akademie in Krems.

Mit diesen Worten beginnt am 8. April 1772 die Geschichte der Altenburger Orgel, und aus einer Bleistiftnotiz am Windkanal des Positivs wissen wir, daß sie Ist zum Erstenmahl geschlagen worden 22. 9bris 1773 Berichte aus den darauffolgenden Jahren erzählen, daß das neue Orgelwerk den Wünschen der Auftraggeber entsprach, ja sogar helle Bewunderung und Begeisterung erregte.

In den zwei Jahrhunderten seither ist dieses Instrument oft gestimmt, repariert und leider auch verändert worden: Folgen der natürlichen Abnützung bzw. des Zeitgeschmackes.

ZUR GESCHICHTE DER ALTENBURGER ORGEL An heut zu End gesezten Dato und Jahr ist zwischen Sr. Hochwürden und Gnaden Herrn Herrn Bertholdum Abbten des Stüft Altenburg EINES und Herrn Anton Pflüegler, bürgerl.

Orgel-Macher zu Wienn ANDERTEN Theils nachstehender Contract verabredt und unwiderruflich beschlossen worden, und zwar

1977 wurde die Orgel der Stiftskirche Altenburg durch die Firma Rieger in Schwarzach (Vorarlberg) restauriert und sie präsentiert sich derzeit mit folgender Dispoition:

In 1977, the organ of the collegiate church in Altenburg was restored by the Rieger organ making company in Schwarzach (Vorarlberg), and it currently presents the following specification:

ENGLISH FRANZ HASELBÖCK Born in Maria Langegg (Lower Austria), he studied at the Vienna Music Academy with professors Pach and Heiller. After winning first prize at the International Summer Academy in Holland, his international career as an organist began in earnest. Since then, he has played on radio and record, as well as many concerts both at home and abroad. He is also interested in the harpsichord and in unpublished or lesser known works in all styles. Since 1968, he has been Professor for Music Education and Organ at the Pedagogical Academy in Krems.

THE HISTORY OF THE ALTENBURG ORGAN On today's date set to end in one year, the following contract between His Reverence and Grace Mr. Berthold, Abbot of the collegiate church Altenburg on the one part and the commoner Mr. Anton Pflüegler, organ-maker in Vienna, has been agreed and irrevocably concluded, to wit

First, Mr. Pflüegler shall be bound to set up in the local collegiate church, an entirely new interior to the organ tuned up to high D, inclusive, as well as low F sharp and G sharp in the form of a broken octave, and with twenty-six registers according to the sketch signed by both Parties, at the latest by this day in a year's time in the above-mentioned house of God.

With these words, the story of the Altenburg organ began on April 8, 1772, and from a note penciled on the windpipe of the positive organ we know that it was first played on 22nd 9ber (November) 1773 Reports from following years tell that the new organ fulfilled the wishes of the contractors, in fact, it is said to have provoked sheer wonderment and enthusiasm.
