Happy memories from previous Arundel Festivals. What are your favourite Festival moments?
4.30 pm Friday 16th August
Cicestrian novelist, non- ction author and playwright Kate Mosse - known for novels such as Labyrinth, the Sussex-based Gothic thriller The Taxidermist’s Daughter, and her highly-acclaimed history book Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries - will share the story of her career from her role as Founder Director of the Women’s Prize for Fiction and Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction to being an international bestselling author who has sold over 8 million copies worldwide and been awarded a CBE.
Kate will not only bring us up to date with her latest No 1 bestseller The Ghost Ship - a tale of piracy, romance and revenge set on the High Seas - but give Arundel audiences an exclusive preview of the fourth and nal novel in The Joubert Family Chronicles, The Map of Bones (out in October).
After the talk, Kate will be happy to personalise and sign copies of The Ghost Ship.
All talks take place at the Town Hall. Tickets are £17 to include post talk wine on the terrace. Talks nish approximately 5.45pm.
The Honourable Alexandra ShackletonGranddaughter
4.30 pm Monday 19th August
Alexandra is the daughter of Lord Shackleton and granddaughter of Ernest Shackleton. She travels all over the world describing her grandfather’s legacy, with unique insights into the greatest story of Antarctic survival of all time. Alexandra herself has visited the Antarctic four times and together with her cousin is now the legal owner of Shackleton’s ship ‘The Endurance’, which was found recently in the Weddell Sea off the coast of Newfoundland having been crushed by the ice and sank on his 1915 expedition. This is the story of determination, survival, leadership and indeed, endurance. A truly heroic and unparalleled achievement and we are honoured to hear all about it from his only granddaughter.
4.30 pm Tuesday 20th August Tickets £32 to include wine. Meeting at 4.30 pm sharp! at 1 The Old Slipway, River Road, BN18 9EY (adjacent to the bollards and Nineveh Shipyard). Three groups of 17 participants will be guided to a series of 6 secret houses to listen to 6 different professional musicians. At approximately 7pm everyone including musicians, house owners and participants, will gather for wine and conversation at yet another secret venue – a truly unique magical mystery tour! WARNING: This is a fast paced walk between houses as it is very time critical, with some hills involved!
Kindly sponsored by Anne Harriott
by his former assistant Steph Warren
4.30 pm Wednesday 21st August
Steph Warren is an artist facilitator and gallery owner and is a former assistant and member of Banksy’s inner circle, having recently featured in the riveting and acclaimed BBC Radio programme ‘All About Banksy’, the elusive and anonymous artist who is now one of the biggest names in the contemporary art world. Steph was actually the model for Banksy’s famous mural ‘Sweep it Under The Carpet’ and she will be giving us a fascinating and often hilarious insight into working with Banksy at his secret printing press ‘Pictures on Walls’ and being part of some of his incredible mad, bad and historic shows. This together with the story of her own colourful career is certainly a talk not to be missed. However, spoiler alert – she will not be revealing Banksy’s true identity!

Robin Muir is a former picture editor of Vogue and currently a contributing editor and has written several books on Vogue’s heritage. Josephine Ross worked for Vogue for several years before becoming a full time writer and Royal historian. Together they have produced this lavish book which promises to be a feast for the senses.
