NOTES FROM A DREAMER THE TRAVELING MONTH

October is the month I stop living at the atelier and start living in hotels. Trunk show season. Every week, a new city, a new lobby, the same tiny soaps. I miss my own bed. My own chaos. And then a collector walks in wearing a piece I made years ago. Worn soft. Loved. Part of her story now. Suddenly I'm not away from home. I'm visiting one. Meanwhile, the bench keeps working. Everyone says the holidays will be here before you know it. As a jeweler, I have news. They're already here. The pieces under the tree in December are being finished right now, by hands you'll never see. I spend autumn inside other people's winters. I know about the proposal before she does. Don't worry. I'm very good with secrets.
