In the days of my childhood, I have always felt a connection to the place in what had been the perfect home for me to live and explore, despite what my family said about it. But as I grew older and inevitably smarter I began to have an understanding for what my city was, and what the world is, and in doing so I had gotten and still have a slight distaste for my constant surroundings and worldy enviroment. A slight distaste that really forced-set the tone, theme for my zine.

In the final reflection of my photos I realised that I had not used pictures of the streets or my neighborhood at all. I found I had gone out of my house with my digital the streets being visually unpleasing and un-aesthetic, so instead I chose to show camera in hand thinking about the layout of my neighborhood, what spots I would go my neighborhood (in the photo labeled “Glassell-Cyprus Valley”) from far away, to. I had walked around, I had taken some pictures, then I left. The next day, I drove to showing how small it is, how small my city Griffith Park, I wanted to see the Observa- really is. thetics and landscapes, or the city skyline, and when taking them made me reflect on my life, how big the world is, and how little I have seen, experienced, and thinking about it makes me want to go out and see other places than just California, or Los Angeles everyday for that matter.

So when I took these photos, I was speaking in a way that could not be said with words, I took photos of the things I wanted to see without thinking about it or second guessing them, so I guess these pictures can tell about what I like to look at. Being my first zine, I want to make something that has some kind of value to me, so that I can look back in a couple years and see if Ive changed much.

Dianna As a whole I took pictures so that I would have the memory of going to Mexico and enjoying my time with my family that I don’t get to see very often. A couple of them are from the preparations of a party celebrating the first time in a house that my dad has been building for years. This was the first time the house has had enough completion to stay in it. We had a party celebrating this. A few days later we had a priest come in and bless the house for the coming years, our children, their children, and generations coming forward to have the ability to enjoy the house and time with family.

The photo from the ruins to go see the ruins for the first time with sister, my sister was born in Mexico and didn't have papers to leave and come back. It was the first time she got to see where she came from and the beauty of where she is from, Michoacan.
