The New Generation of Branded QR Codes When the QR Code Becomes Part of the Brand

QR codes have become a normal part of modern marketing. You see them on packaging, posters, menus, business cards, advertisements, product labels and printed materials everywhere. But most QR codes still look exactly the same. A black-and-white square is placed somewhere in the design, usually with a small instruction such as “Scan Me.” That works. But it doesn't create much attention. A new generation of QR codes is changing that. With visual QR code technology, the QR code itself can become part of the brand, product, artwork or campaign. Instead of adding a QR code to a design, the QR code can be designed as part of the design.

The QR Code Becomes the Visual Consider a natural products brand such as GreenLeaf. Instead of placing an ordinary QR code next to the product branding, the QR code can be constructed using visual elements that belong to the brand itself. In this example, leaves become part of the QR code. The result is still a QR code, but it also communicates the identity of the product.

Natural. Green. Organic. Sustainable. The QR code isn't just sitting next to the brand. It has become part of the brand.
