The first element of Mahfuzur Rahman's art is the bright colors he uses to bring out the image he has in mind. The colors sometimes contrast sharply, creating simultaneous contrast, as in the painting "Red Grains." The bright yellow and red contrast with the deep blue in the background. On the other hand, the artist sometimes paints using monochromatic colors, or colors that marry quickly with each other. Examples of this technique include "Eve and Flow."
A feature that stands out in Mahfuzur Rahman's portfolio is how trees make appearances in many of his works, showcasing his love for nature and our environment. In some paintings, such as "Flint Of The Sun," trees are the image's only object. In Red Grains, the trees are full of life and found in a field where other plants grow well. In contrast, some of his works showcase trees that have dried up, have no leaves, and are also located on bare land with no vegetation leaving an exposed field.

The repeated use of trees, portrayed in different stages of the life cycles and at different times of day or night, is hard to miss. A subject Mahfuzur Rahman uses to inspire us to reflect on our relationship with our planet. By utilizing the colors and movement on the trees, his work invokes different emotions and shares his inspiration from nature with the viewer.
