Arts Education Institute celebrates 20 years
Registration is still open for the 20th annual Arts Education Institute and 1st annual Band Director Institute. The Arts Education Institute will be held July 15-18 and the Band Director Institute July 15-17 on the campus of Northern State University in Aberdeen.

For 20 years, the Arts Education Institute has offered an educational and fun-filled week of learning to infuse the arts into classrooms and curriculum development. This year 24 hands-on art, choral and music workshops offer many opportunities for all Pre-K through 12th grade educators. You DO NOT need to be an educator to attend AEI—anyone who loves high quality workshops is invited to attend.
This year’s inaugural Band Director Institute is an intensive program designed to bring music teachers the best in current and standard literature in addition to teaching methods and materials. The three-day institute will include large ensemble reading sessions, master classes and clinic sessions that focus on a wide variety of teaching subjects for band directors. The headline clinician will be Michael Sweeney, Composer and Director of Band Publications for Hal Leonard.
It’s not too late to share an affordable, high quality professional development experience that is relevant and directly applicable to the classroom, as well as inspirational and fun. Information, ideas and interaction are packed into a few days, providing a creative break for teachers. Over 100 arts educators from around South Dakota are expected to attend this year’s institute, sponsored by Arts South Dakota, the South Dakota Arts Council, Northern State University and Popplers Music.
Graduate, undergraduate and renewal CEU credits are available. More information and registration can be found at www.ArtsSouthDakota.org.
