Each year Packsaddle hangs in excess of 300 artworks and prints for two weeks and is one of the highest selling exhibitions in regional NSW. The exhibition comprises a diverse range of paintings, prints, ceramics and sculptures from nationallyrenowned artists, hung alongside young and emerging artists with works contributed by major Sydney galleries and individual artists.

Wild Forest Studio ‘Caer Tinuviel’ 12381 New England Hwy, Black Mountain Jane’s work is influenced by her fascination with the natural environment and its processes.

It explores perspectives ranging from the microscopic to the geomorphic. A seasoned exponent of colour, line and form, she mostly works in the semi-abstract or abstract genre.

McCrossin’s Mill Museum Salisbury St, Uralla This heritage building contains an astounding collection of objects that allows visitors a glimpse back in time to our colonial Australian past including the exhibitions of Phillip Pomroy’s ‘Death of Thunderbolt’ Painting Series, ‘New Gold Mountain’ and ‘Tribute to the Anaiwan’. Antipodean Tynker 32W Fitzroy St, Walcha The Antipodean Tynker’s are Makers in Metal.

The Gallery has a Victorian Era / Steampunk Feel.

The main body of this exhibition is 12 years’ work

by Mark Walker of five completely handmade motorbikes, titled ‘Art That Runs’. Mark also makes Found Object Moving Sculpture, whilst Erika is a metalsmith who makes smaller works mainly boxes and jewellery using silver, copper and brass.

Open Air Gallery

Start the trail by picking up a brochure at the Visitor Information Centre; 29W Fitzroy St, Walcha Walcha’s Open Air Gallery is a permanent outdoor public exhibition. Enjoy a beautiful and interesting walk around the landscaped levee banks of the Apsley River, in parks and the general streetscape, where art greets you at every turn. Hillgrove Rural Life and Industry Museum Scouler St, Hillgrove The Hillgrove Rural Life and Industry Museum collection is housed in the 1896 Hillgrove School building. The museum contains a fascinating collection of exhibits depicting the booming mining town of Hillgrove from 1893 to 1912. The museum gives the visitor a unique insight into everyday life in old Hillgrove.

The two storey, 30 room Edwardian mansion is the jewel of Saumarez. Wander through its rooms and the farm buildings to be transported back to 19th century pastoral life. Have a coffee at the café and visit outbuildings complete with 19th century tools and equipment. Allow at least half a day to see this extensive property.
