Iwas born in Syria. We left in 2013 for Jordan. We stayed in Jordan for four years. We have been in the U.S. for two years. Syria is destruction and fear. I came out of there with fear for me and my children and my husband. My mom, sister, and brother are still in Syria. My dad died in Syria. I have four sisters and two brothers. Sister one is in Turkey. Sister two is in Syria with my mom and other sister. We left Syria for Jordan. I don’t think about Syria. I am done with that.

When we got to Jordan, first we went to Zaatari Camp for three months. Then we went to Amman. We lived in Hay Nazzal with my husband’s family. My kids went to school in Jordan. It was an okay life in Jordan. When I was there, I knew it was my passion to live with my family safely. We lived a lot of difficult days in Syria.

We were in Jordan for three years when my husband got a telephone call from immigration. In March, we started interviewing for asylum in the U.S. After seven months of questions, we came to the U.S. It was September 27, 2016. When we got the phone call that we were coming to the U.S., I was happy for my family. My husband was sick. And for the sake of the children, we came to the U.S. to teach them and to live better. Now, my daughter is in 8th grade. My son is in 7th grade. And my youngest son is in 3rd grade. My family is happy here. And now I am happy.
