JOURNEYS FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL LEICESTER 2017 ‘‘ Produced by ArtReach, Journeys Festival International invites you to explore two weeks of creative events, taking place across the city. The Festival celebrates the artistic talents of exceptional refugee and asylum seeker artists, and explores work that shares the refugee experience. The Festival presents internationally acclaimed artists, alongside providing a platform for local talent, at a series of vibrant, free events to suit all ages and interests. This is made possible by our diverse portfolio of partners and we would like to thank them for their continued support and enthusiasm as Journeys Festival International continues to grow, locally in Leicester, nationally in Manchester and Portsmouth and internationally through new European partnerships.’’

FREE LOOK UP PRESENTS FOREIGNER: MIGRATION INTO EUROPE DANIEL CASTRO GARCIA

21 AUGUST – 03 SEPTEMBER LEICESTER CITY CENTRE, VARIOUS LOCATIONS Look Up is an outdoor visual arts exhibition. Artworks are enlarged and exhibited on the exteriors of buildings across the city, creating an outdoor gallery and art trail. Look Up for Leicester 2017 presents Foreigner: Migration into Europe by British Journal of Photography’s International Photographer of the Year 2017, Daniel Castro Garcia. Foreigner gives a personal identity to the people caught up in the 2015 – 2016 ‘European migrant crisis’ – the largest migrant movement since World War II. The striking portraits offer the viewer an emotional connection to the subjects, rather than the degrading imagery often used by mass media. JOURNEYSFESTIVAL.COM
