



2022 has been another incredible year for Resource:Art. Wecompletedthefirstfullyear of operation for our new gallery project, Raft of Sanity, participated in two art fairs, launched public art projects, and oversaw anotherspectaculareditionofPLAY/GROUND in a brand new venue, Riverworks. None of it wouldbepossiblewithoutthesupportofour incredible community of artists, curators, collectors, writers, advisors, and art enthusiasts We look forward to another full yearofrobustartexhibitionsandevents
We were thrilled to engage in many wonderfulpartnershipsthisyearincludingour continued collaboration with The Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art (BICA) for PLAY/GROUND,andanewrelationshipwiththe Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, placing three unique temporary public artworks at Canalside this summer in and around The Children's Museum. We also worked with NYC based gallery Garvey|Simon onajointpresentationforFutureFair2022.

The gallery takes its name from a quote by surrealist painter Dorothea Tanning who famously said , "Art has always been the raft onto which we climb to save our sanity..." This felt especiallyappropriateduringtheheightofapandemic,anda time of great political unrest and social injustice Art has alwaysbeenourraft,andwewereexcitedtofindanewvenue toprovideinspirationandcomfort
Raft of Sanity (The Raft) was founded in September of 2021 with the mission to create connections between artists, collectors, critics, and the community in a welcoming environment which supports artistic excellence.
