Custodians of tradition from Giyani Village (Limpopo) meet the energised and politicised urban youth of Alex township. Page 104, Rebooted: Unfolding Histories, is a dialogue of narratives set up by Justice Mathonsi and Sipho Gwala and Sifiso Gumede (of Gom.art Collective) in Alex. These narratives are expressed through a series of relief prints energised with colour. Throughout the exhibition the viewer is struck by the quietness and often stoic resonance of the traditional elders (Mathonsi's work) which is sharply contrasted by the energy and noise captured in Gwala and Gumede's scenes of urban youth on the streets of Alex. The exhibition promises to excite while at the same time inspire and evoke memories of people and places from our own pasts and present experiences skilfully captured by the artists.
