I have been painting landscapes on and off all my life especially during the 1980s in Spain where I had a few exhibitions and sold most of my work. Art has always been a big part of my life but now I’m less involved with the process and just paint as I want to.

Greg Stirling started painting in 1980. After going through three decades of self-guided exploration in abstract expressionism, art of the 20th century, and post-war impressionism, he arrived at the door of realism. Mr. Stirling is also a kinetic metal sculptor, and engineer.

Born on a farm near Newtownhamilton northern Ireland. Got in to painting and doing art when I got off alcohol went to a life drawing class. Have painted about 1000 paintings in that time. My motto is I hope to do a masterpiece some day.

As a painter of natural environments, I can consider how the impact of the Anthropocene affects the ways that humans relate to land - or to Country - or to place. But this series of paintings also belies my interest in the processes and materiality of painting.
