New trash hauler for Beaumont Mascaro starts in September By Brock Nichols When, as Director of Housekeeping, I was assigned the task of analyzing and recommending an appropriate waste removal company back in March of ’09, I thought to myself, “This should take only a few hours.” I was wrong. When a contract was signed with J.P. Mascaro & Sons at about 1:15 p.m. on June 2, it had involved many hours and the efforts of most of the Green Committee as well as members of the administration to reach a decision. High school set for completion 2011 By Richard C. Maass Many Beaumonters have expressed curiosity as to when construction will be over with across the street. Dick Maass volunteered to find out. His report: Harriton High School needs about two more years to achieve completion of the current project. According
to Pat Guinnane, Director of Operations, Lower Merion School District, however, there will be intermediate steps toward that goal. Mr. Guinnane said the new building will be occupied Sept. 8 when the new school year begins. Asbestos removal from the old building will begin at the same time, followed a month later by demolition which is expected to be completed in December. Interestingly, the demolition debris will be recycled. The debris will continued on page 7
