ArtHouse Jersey is looking to appoint an exceptional new Chair to lead its Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will help guide the charity’s work, helping to ensure that art and creativity are part of everyday life in Jersey. As such, this is an important role.
Being ArtHouse Jersey’s Chair means advocating for the arts more generally, and championing their value across the Island’s civic, political and economic life. It requires a visible and credible voice who can articulate the essential contribution that creativity can make to Jersey’s wellbeing, identity and future prosperity.
As Chair, you will provide leadership to the Board, ensuring strong governance, clear strategic direction, and effective oversight of the charity’s performance. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will support and challenge, helping to shape long-term ambition whilst ensuring we remain focused, resilient and well-managed.
Beyond the Boardroom, as Chair you will help to strengthen relationships and trust across the charity’s diverse network of stakeholders and partners, unlocking opportunities and ensuring that the charity continues to serve the public. This includes supporting ArtHouse Jersey’s fundraising and reinforcing the case for sustained investment in the arts.
The charity has an important role to play in Jersey’s cultural future and we embark upon the next chapter from a position of strength, with a clear purpose, strong partnerships and a wellestablished reputation. My successor will help navigate a changing political, economic and funding landscape, working alongside a committed Board and executive team, at a time of growing opportunity for creativity to contribute to the economy, community wellbeing, civic life and Jersey’s sense of identity.
This is a role for someone who understands both the responsibility and opportunity of leadership in a small island context. If you have a track record of leadership, sound judgement, integrity and a commitment to public service, alongside a genuine belief in the power of the arts to enrich lives across our community, we would be delighted to hear from you.
About our charity
Our charity brings art into everyday life by creating opportunities for people to take part, experience and shape culture and creativity across Jersey.
Creativity matters. It entertains and inspires. It challenges how we see the world. But it also does something deeper. Creativity helps people feel connected, strengthens communities and makes Jersey a more vibrant place to live, work and visit.
Research has consistently shown that public investment in arts and culture generates a strong return through jobs, tourism, skills development, wellbeing and wider social value.
We often work with partner organisations across the third sector, to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to encounter creativity in ways they may never have expected.
Ultimately, the arts and creativity shapes how people feel about where they live and central to all of our work is the aspiration to make a meaningful impact in our community by concentrating on four strategic aims:
Our
Process
Present:
Providing our community with access to compelling and diverse art.
Produce:
Creating art that is compelling, relevant and ambitious, rooted in Jersey with an international outlook.
Nurture: Supporting the development of the creative ecosystem and broadening access to the arts
Enable: A responsible business model that supports continual learning and the deepening of relationships between audiences and art.

The charity in context
ArtHouse Jersey is a grant funded, registered Jersey charity. The funding we receive from the Economy Department enables us to serve Islanders through the arts. The charity works closely with colleagues in the Economy Department and, as a strategic partner to the Government, helps deliver the objectives set out in the Island’s Arts Strategy.
We are proud to be a founding member of the Creative Island Partnership and work in close collaboration with the Ballet d’Jerri, Jersey Arts Centre, Jersey Opera House, and Jersey Heritage, as well as many other organisations across Jersey.
Public sector investment is key to enabling ArtHouse Jersey to continue to make a significant contribution to Jersey’s populationlevel objectives. Our projects benefit Islanders, providing entertainment, supporting mental health and wellbeing, creating spaces for education and debate, enabling arts sector professionalism, attracting and retaining talent, and acting as a platform for economic growth and diversification. As such, the charity offers the taxpayer a significant social return on investment.
Public sector investment provides ArtHouse Jersey with a solid platform from which we are able to fundraise through corporate partnerships, donations, foundations, our programme and commercial opportunities. These various income streams support the charity’s financial sustainability.
Transparency and robust financial management support a prudent approach to finances ensuring that appropriate, adequately mitigated risks can be taken when developing our programme and delivering public benefit through the arts. The charity is audited each year and Annual Reports and Financial Statements are publicly available.
Founded in 1993, in 2026 we became a private company limited by guarantee, a structure more suitable for the charity, providing limited liability protection for Board Members (in their capacity as Directors and guarantor members).
Our Board
ArtHouse Jersey is fortunate to have dedicated Board Members, who champion our work and whose skills and expertise are wellplaced to support the delivery of our goals.
Responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the charity, our Board Members are drawn from a range of backgrounds, and were appointed for their knowledge, expertise and experience they bring and their passion for the arts.
