Welcome to ArtHouse Jersey’s Autumn/Winter 2025/26 season – a bold, diverse celebration of creativity across our Island community. From September through March, our programme invites you to experience art that provokes, connects, and inspires. This season’s line-up spans accessible public art, powerful exhibitions, intimate live music, experimental residencies and immersive performances, with each one reflecting our belief in the power of creativity to spark conversation and alight curiosity.
We begin with a burst of public colour with Art in the Arches, a mural trail that champions local voices and shared expression. From there, our Elsewhere Together residencies open space for experimentation, while Born to Lose, CONSUMED, and Held in the Tide explore punk, protest and place through fresh, contemporary lenses. Live music returns to the Barracks with a stellar line-up of homegrown talent and our much-loved Cake & Cabaret tour brings joy and connection to older parishioners across the Island.
ArtHouse Jersey is committed to making the arts accessible to all, with many events free or pay-what-you-can. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime supporter, we invite you to join us in discovering new stories, new perspectives, and new ways of seeing our world. Let curiosity lead you. Let creativity stay with you.

Art in the Arches: Out of the Blue
FROM SEPTEMBER 2025 ONWARDS
St Helier’s Elizabeth Marina
Art in the Arches returns to St Helier’s Elizabeth Marina for its second edition, bringing bold colour, creativity and community voices to this much-loved public space.
Curated by Jacqueline Rutter the project invites Islanders and visitors alike to experience 12 new murals responding to the evocative theme, Out of the Blue. This year’s line-up includes five commissioned local artists — Ben Robertson, Abi Overland, Rian Hotton, Layla Arthur and Aimée Cast — each creating works inspired by moments of surprise, emotion, and transformation. Alongside them, young people across the Island are making their mark: students from four schools will take part in tailored workshops feeding into six vibrant student-designed murals. Further collaborations with Ocean Culture Life and CAMHS have supported children and
families to express themselves creatively, to create their own collectively made community artwork. From professional artists to first-time painters, Art in the Arches champions Jersey’s diverse creative voices and reimagines public space as a place for storytelling, expression and shared experience. Free and open to all, the murals will be on display from 18 September 2025 and remain in place for all to enjoy.
With kind permission of Ports of Jersey and generous support from Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Jersey Development Company, Normans, and AA Langois.
Free entry, no booking necessary.
Elsewhere Together Residency Series
An invitation to forge encounters in unfamiliar terrain
This autumn, Elsewhere Together brings UK-based artists to ArtHouse Jersey’s Greve de Lecq Barracks for a new residency series. Each pairing spans disciplines creating space for unexpected collaboration and creative risk. With no set outcomes, our headquarters becomes a site for shared exploration shaped by its coastal landscape. Curated by Producer Robyn Cabaret, the series invites artists to step outside their usual contexts and into a space of encounter, experimentation, and new possibilities.
Moving Portraits
WEDNESDAY 10 SEPTEMBER, FROM 11AM
National Trust for Jersey’s Le Catel Fort
Choreographer Becky Namgauds and photographer Camilla Greenwell would like your help to create a series of ‘moving portraits’. Drop-in and take part in a playful shoot at Le Catel Fort, set against the rugged backdrop of Jersey’s north coast.
Through simple movement, play and creative exchange, you will help shape poetic living images weaving together gesture, place, and sound. In this meeting of camera and choreography, land and body, Becky and Camilla will explore how new ground - geographic, artistic, and collaborative - can reshape the way we see and are seen.
Becky and Camila together will reflect on the intersection of movement and image, exploring the Island as both a backdrop and collaborator. Rooted in their shared interest in the body in space, they’ll use film as a connective medium, capturing fleeting moments where human presence meets the elemental landscape.
Tickets/Booking: Free via Eventbrite.

Resonant Landscapes in Dialogue
FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER, 7PM
ArtHouse Jersey Studios at Grève de Lecq Barracks
Visual artist Athene Greig and musician Christopher Haddow merge their creative practices in an openended exploration of land, sea, and the sensory traces they leave behind. Using field recordings, analogue tape loops, drawing, painting, and writing, the duo will respond intuitively to the surrounding environment and to one another, bringing the outside in through layered, experimental gestures.
Through resonance, both acoustic and emotional, they seek to capture the subtle frequencies of place, allowing image and sound to drift, overlap, and settle. Their process will be shared with the public during an informal open studio and performance on Friday evening, offering a glimpse into their evolving collaboration and the landscapes they’ve translated into form.
Tickets/Booking: £5 via Eventbrite.

Born to Lose: A reading
Tracing the explosive arrival of punk music in the Cotentin region of Normandy
This autumn, French writer and researcher Paul Max Morin will undertake a writing residency at Greve de Lecq Barracks, hosted by ArtHouse Jersey, to develop Born to Lose - a non-fiction book tracing the explosive arrival of punk music in the Cotentin region of Normandy.
Focusing on a group of teenagers from the small town of Picauville (Manche), Born to Lose is a story of rebellion, transformation, and music’s power to disrupt and define identity. As punk swept across the Channel in the late 1970s and early ‘80s, these young people found themselves irrevocably changed.
The Island of Jersey plays a key role in the book. With its physical and symbolic proximity, it became a vital point of escape - a place where rare records could be found, subcultural connections forged, and the promise of another life imagined. Part of the narrative unfolds on Jersey itself, grounding the Island in the broader punk story of the region.
Paul’s time at the Barracks will be dedicated to further research, writing, and deepening the cross-Channel context of this little-known yet compelling cultural history. You are invited to join Paul on the evening of Tuesday 16 September and hear some early readings from the book.
Tickets/Booking: £10 via Eventbrite with a pay-what-you-can option.

Alastair Best explains that looking back from the age of 84, he wishes that he’d started painting ten or fifteen years earlier. The themes of his work include the Jersey coastline particularly the low water lunar landscape of our South East coast.

Jersey composer Jack Chown (kiskadee) and digital artist Neal Coghlan (Aszyk) are two London-based artists who in this first showing of a new collaborative work have been exploring themes of transformation, nature, and liminality to present a multi-sensory experience that will immerse the audience in a space where organic and electronic elements intertwine.

What happens when photography lies by telling the truth?
Connor Daly’s Minimal Works presents a compelling paradox: photographs that reveal by concealing. Over six years (2016-2022), Daly turned his lens toward overlooked spaces—car parks, lido pools, tennis courts, walls, even a crazy golf course, stripping them of context to create something unexpectedly profound.
These aren’t documentary photographs. By removing mundane spaces from their everyday contexts, Daly challenges photography’s claim to truth-telling. A patch of astroturf becomes a meditation on colour and texture. A tennis court transforms into a geometric abstraction. A car park hints at countless human stories that briefly occupied its boundaries.
The artist describes these works as ‘images of obstruction’, yet they function more like windows into how we might see the constructed world differently. Drawing inspiration from 20th-century abstract and constructivist movements, Daly creates compositions that feel both familiar and mysteriously detached.
What makes these photographs striking is their deliberate emptiness. No people, no natural landscapes, no obvious emotions guide our response. This apparent objectivity becomes the work’s greatest strength—and its most intriguing deception. In their bright, clean aesthetics, these images become mirrors reflecting our relationship with spaces we inhabit but rarely truly see.
Though concluded in 2022, the work retains what Daly calls ‘a lingering feeling of incompleteness’, perhaps the point of photographs that pose questions about perception, place, and the stories our environments tell when we’re not listening.
Connor Daly is a British photographer working between the UK and Jersey whose internationally exhibited work has received several photography awards.

Jersey Opera House
Held in the Tide
A new opera for Jersey
A storm. A shoreline. A trio of long-buried stones re-emerge. So begins Held in the Tide, a bold new opera exploring identity, belonging, and the things we hold on to when everything is shifting beneath our feet.
At its heart are two Islanders: Lillie, a geologist returning home after years away, and Frances, a local artist who never left. When a trio of ancient stones are mysteriously uncovered in the sand, it sets off a chain reaction of tensions, reckonings, and an unexpected connection between past and present, global ambition, and local memory, progress, and preservation.
This is an opera, but not as you know it. Expect powerful live music blending classical, folk, and electronic influences. Relatable characters and a chorus of local voices surges through the story like the tide itself. At times funny, moving, and deeply human, this is a story that will make you laugh, think, and perhaps see yourself reflected in its cast of Islanders, returners, and dreamers.
Led by Jersey-born mezzo-soprano Georgia Mae Bishop, and performed
by three professional singers all born in Jersey, Held in the Tide is the result of a year-long collaboration between young Islanders aged 18-30 and a team of world-class opera-makers. Developed through open workshops and creative exchanges, this is what happens when a community comes together to tell its own story - made with care, by many hands, for all of us.
Whether you’re an opera regular or have never set foot in a theatre, this is your invitation to experience something extraordinary. In a time when questions of home, identity, and belonging feel more urgent than ever, Held in the Tide reminds us that community isn’t just something we inherit. It’s something we shape; together.
Developed and presented in partnership with Jersey Opera House. Supported by Coutts.

LOOK! Student Exhibition
Explore immersive, intricate and inspiring art through this student exhibition exploring scale through a range of materials and processes.
The work took inspiration from Claire Ormsby’s multidisciplinary exhibition, ‘Fallowfield’, and invited artists to work collaboratively with local schools to design and create a unique, cross curricular, project for students. The artists were able to share skills, knowledge and a passion for the visual arts in the classroom whilst working alongside teaching staff to deliver dynamic workshops.
The work on display is a celebration of process, experimentation and creativity which are essential to spark joy, nurture enquiring minds and build lifelong learning skills.
Tickets/Booking: Free entry and family workshop tickets will be made available via eventbrite in January 2026.
