“It wasn’t until I started designing fabric in 2009 that I realized I was a Maximalist at heart. This revelation came at a time when minimalism dominated the quilting scene, but I knew that just wasn’t me. Embracing my true style, I coined the term “Curated Maximalism™” in 2015, championing a philosophy where “more” is thoughtful and intentional.
Having been a quilter for over two decades, my journey began with a desire to see my personality reflected in the fabrics of my home. This passion naturally extended into home decor, a field I adore and have watched evolve over the years. Recently, the design world has witnessed a significant resurgence in Maximalism, reminiscent of the vibrant patterns and textures from my childhood in the 70s and 80s. This revival isn’t just about bold aesthetics; it’s about thoughtful design. Interior designers are now integrating quilts in innovative ways—using them as upholstery, layering them on beds, and even framing quilt blocks as art. This trend aligns perfectly with what I call an English Cottage Maximalist feel, deeply resonating with my viewpoint on decor and my love for handmade crafts.
With my latest collections (Anthology, Storied Stripes, and Legacy) I celebrate this Maximalist resurgence. These lines are more than a nod to my roots; they are a love letter to the style that has always brought joy to my life, intertwining it with the art of quilting and the beauty of handmade decor.
