A new way
of sewing
After countless days and sleepless nights, brainstorming concepts, chatting about color palettes, scale, and the potential that each fabric print holds, we molded those ideas and refined them, creating collections that we hope will spark sewing ideas and inspire makers to create with that same fiery passion that we have too. In this digital catalog, for the first season of 2019, you’ll discover an array of fabric collections that although different, share a common thread of “quilty love” for their creation. From AGF Studio’s bold yet playful designs in SISU to Pat Bravo’s collection MATCHMADE that was created with “patchwork” in mind, you’ll see that our passion for contemporary chic fabrics still upholds. You can watch videos of each collection, view all of the fabrics, and gain insight from the designers who not only share inspiration behind their designs, but also share helpful tips on how you can sew with their fabrics! Everyday, we strive to show you the very best version of ourselves, creating with our utmost love and passion for fabrics and the sewing community. Katarina was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, where she lives with her husband and kids. She tries to express herself through many forms of art: collages, drawings, illustrations, calligraphy, graphic design, prints-mainly linocuts, photography, sewing. She finds inspiration everywhere: in different forms and materials, but also in plants, travels, books, illustrations, exhibitions, fabrics, de-
sign blogs, catalogs, photographs, vintage patterns. She loves taking many pictures of anything that may seem inspirational, either by shape, texture or color. She always loved fabrics and funky patterns, giving them the important roles in her graphic compositions and assemblages. Drawing and making her own patterns now is something that she’s really really proud of.

Pat’s passion for sewing materialized at the age of 9, when she sat down at her mother’s sewing machine for the first time. At the age of 13, she joined a sewing school in Buenos Aires, learning everything about fabrics, dressmaking, and patterns. She fell in love with quilting, sewing triangles and squares together, eventually teaching herself everything that could be achieved using traditional quilting techniques. Throughout
the years, her taste started evolving and she began to cross the bridge towards art quilts. First, she started with landscapes and with time her style became more abstract. She had a hard time finding color variations in batiks and that’s when she decided to paint her own fabrics. She began to see that quilters loved them, and not too long after that, Pat founded Art Gallery Fabrics.

Watch Jessica’s video about her inspiration for Lugu!
Jessica had been obsessed with patterns and color since she was a small child. Her mom taught her how to sew at a young age so she grew up surrounded by fabric. She works in a beautiful, sun-filled studio in her backyard, where she paints, designs, and teach other creative people how to make their own repeating patterns through her on-
line course and community. She’s endlessly inspired by the natural world and its stunning variety of shapes and colors and textures; our man-made world inspires her, too, through, and travel (even if it’s just in her imagination!) is a go-to source of creative juju for her as well. Her view is that there’s inspiration everywhere, if you’re willing to look at the world that way.

Katie is originally from Arizona but her husband and her now live in the frosty state of North Dakota with their beautiful girls. She has always been a crafter. As a child, her mom nurtured this passion. A craft bin with every color crayon, paints and coloring books was always available. Not much has changed, She has cabinets full of her favorite watercolors, acrylics and pencils. Having four girls, who all have the “crafty” trait, is so much fun for her. She has dreamed of becoming a fabric designer since
she started sewing 9 years ago. Katie started her sewing journey as a quilter. As her two older girls were getting a little bigger, she decided it would be fun to make them dresses. She wanted simple, modern designs so she ended up designing them herself, which led to her starting Simple Life Pattern Company where she designs the cutest baby, girls & women’s patterns. Now, after designing and sewing so many garments with AGF, she finally became a fabric designer.

Maureen Cracknell lives in small town Potter Country, Pennsylvania. She is a mother, wife, blogger, quilter, and lover of all things creative and handmade. Growing up, drawing was her passion, and once she learned how to sew, she would dream every day about having her own fabric collection. She started sewing and blogging at Maureen Cracknell Handmade; a simple, positive, and creative
blog where she loves to share her projects, fabric stashes, sewing, and special family moments. She’s been a proud member of several fabric manufacturer design teams throughout the years, including Art Gallery Fabric’s popular Fat Quarter Gang, Most of her fabric ideas come from sketches she draws of the beautiful area that she lives in.
