statement An empty museum.

A museum full of works that can be stolen.

A museum as precarious as an errant boulder, which isn’t where it should be, or in place without a reason.

A contrary to a non-place, without being a monument.

A museum of fragility, chaos, emergency, contradiction, precariousness, of human nature or rubble.

A museum dedicated to slight actions that serve to remind us who we are, or what we might become.

A central and marginal place at the same time.

Kunsthalle novi is a “museum” inspired by the great twentieth-century tradition of “canned museums” or portable museums, derived from Duchamp. It is, to be more precise, an “artist-run space” founded through the initiative of local artists, currently located in a small niche on the external wall of the Town Hall in Novi Ligure, but that could be in the future relocated elsewhere in the city. It has its own wall-plate.

Marc Augé wrote, with words still effective: Does contemporary architecture not point to eternity, but to the present; a present however, unsurpassable. It doesn’t run after the eternity of a dream of stone, but tries to evoke an undefinitely long lasting present…

We like to consider Kunsthalle novi (whose acronym echoes a fundamental text of the Italian abstractism, Carlo Belli’s Kn) as a proponent of a desirable participatory practice, closer to contemporary theories of architecture and landscape (the Third Landscape by Gilles Clément) where the disorientation, the processuality, the error, the rules of harmony dictated by chance take on profound feelings and affections. exhibits An exhibition at Kunsthalle novi lasts as long as the works disappear, due to theft or weather events. Kn likes its secret audience.

STATUTO Un museo vuoto.

Un museo pieno di opere che possono essere rubate.

Un museo precario come un masso erratico, che sta dove non dovrebbe stare, o sta al suo posto senza un perché.

Un contrario di un non luogo, senza tuttavia essere un monumento.

Un museo della fragilità, del caos, dell’emergenza, delle contraddizioni, della precarietà, della natura umana o delle macerie.

Un museo dedicato a piccole azioni leggere che servono a ricordarci chi siamo, o cosa potremmo diventare.

Un luogo centrale e marginale allo stesso tempo.

Kunsthalle novi è un “museo” ispirato alla grande tradizione novecentesca dei “musei in scatola” o dei musei portatili, di derivazione duchampiana. È, per essere più precisi, un “artist-run space” nato per iniziativa di artisti locali, attualmente collocato in una piccola nicchia all’esterno del Palazzo Comunale di Novi Ligure, ma che potrebbe essere rilocalizzato altrove nella città, in futuro. Dispone di una sua “insegna” fissa.

Scriveva Marc Augé, con parole ancora molto vive: L’architettura contemporanea non punta all’eternità, ma al presente: un presente, tuttavia, insuperabile. Non anela all’eternità di un sogno di pietra, ma a un presente indefinitamente sostituibile…

Ci piace considerare Kunsthalle novi (il cui acronimo riecheggia un testo fondamentale dell’astrattismo italiano, Kn di Carlo Belli) come fautore di una auspicabile pratica partecipativa, vicina alle teorie contemporanee dell’architettura e del paesaggio (il Terzo Paesaggio di Gilles Clément), dove lo spaesamento, la processualità, l’errore, le regole d’armonia dettate dal caso prendono senso e affetti profondi. mostre Una mostra alla Kunsthalle novi dura finché l’opera scompare, a causa di un furto o di eventi climatici.
