AMERICAN MUSIC SERIES

HANK'S HONKY TONK | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X24"

In Hank's Honky Tonk , I pay homage to many of my favorite country and western musicians and songs. A man in black tends bar while the band, "The Lonesome Criers" plays. The Honk Tonk's namesake plays guitar and sings in lament while a smartly dressed woman leans against the jukebox perhaps considering her potential to feel "crazy" at the dance advertised above her. A gambler deals cards and a woman in a flowing dress is twirled about the dance floor, not being satisfied to simply stand by her man. In the crowd you might find four who should be able to win the a million dollar quartet competition but you should hurry as one of the potential favorites seems to almost have left the building. In total, there are over 50 references to the history of country and western music, the most significant songs, albums and important artists.

AMERICAN WILDLANDS SERIES I

SPIRIT OF YOSEMITE | 2020

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X36", 24"X48"

The Spirit of Yosemite composition captures the iconic images of El Capitan, Half-Dome and Bridalveil Fall while paying homage to the majestic bald eagles that call the Valley home. In the clouds, see a menagerie of tributes to the other places visited on this particular artistic sojourn.

SPIRIT OF YELLOWSTONE | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X27", 24"X36"

Yellowstone was a place we would come to visit on several occasions. Spirit of Yellowstone is my attempt to capture my childhood wonderment about this magic place. “Old Faithful” erupts shooting water into the air, creating steam and mist that breaks the late afternoon light into a rainbow of colors. Buffalo and grey wolves walk the terrain while a bald eagle soars above looking down on rabbits as potential prey.

SPIRIT OF THE SMOKIES | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 20"X24"

As Abrams Falls splashes behind, a mother black bear and her three cubs forage the flowing stream for food and fun. A mountain raccoon takes a moment to watch the furry family while it holds on to its dinner in the form of a brook trout. Standing above it all, a North American elk looks down on its fellow woodland denizens as it is silhouetted against the shifting mists and striking foliage of this ancient forest habitat.

SPIRIT OF GUADALUPE | 2017

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X24"

Set at sunrise as the park’s inhabitants just begin to stir, the background is dominated by “El Capitan” the best-known peak of the Guadalupe range. Mule deer and road runners forage for food as a golden eagle flies above and scans the ground below. Splashes of color dot the landscape in the petals of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush as well as on the wings of monarch butterflies.

AMERICAN WILDLANDS SERIES II

SPIRIT OF DENALI | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X27", 24"X36"

Throughout my childhood and into my late teens my father would take my brothers and me on “road trips” every year. We would meandor around the country and eventually visited all of the great cities and natural places the contiguous 48 states had to offer. These trips were fun, reasonable in scope and safety contained.

But then it hit my father’s fancy to truly do something “epic” as he explained, “We are driving to Alaska to see Denali National Park.” When he first stated the idea, it seemed like a natural next step in our travels and so, without question, we set out. The whole of Alaska called and filled our imaginations. It took weeks of travel but, as it turned out my dad was right. Denali is indeed epic.

Even more with that break in weather, the park came to life. Grizzly bear fished in the salmon filled rivers. Moose wandered the lush meadows and wolves ran in packs to howl their hungry intent. In my memory, it is like no place else on earth in terms of its scope and grandeur.

SPIRIT OF THE GRAND CANYON | 2021

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X24", 25.5"X34"

Few places in this world can match the splendor so evident in any vista drawn from the Grand Canyon. The range of hue in the rock, the play of shadow and light in each crevasse discovered, and the sheer depth of the field experienced can overwhelm the eye of their beholder. The Canyon truly is a visual spectacular. But the real grandeur of this gorge does not simply lie in its view. Rather, it is captured by how that panorama fills the mind’s eye and affects the human spirit. It is how it makes you feel that makes its sight so special.

Join me as I paint this natural wonder and pay a visit to some of its most famous inhabitants. A family of bighorn sheep gazes out into the summer sun as a team of mules takes a group of tourists down the steep trails that lead to the mighty Colorado River, the source of this everchanging geologic gash in the earth. A ringtail cat looks on with interest as a Gila monster slowly crawls the sun-warmed red rock.

Spirit of the Grand Canyon is my attempt to pay homage to our country’s great national parks and wildlands. I hope this painting entices you all to visit this wondrous place, and in seeing it, you can feel the canyon’s touch on your heart, mind, and soul.

ANIMAL ACCENTS COLLECTION

BISON IN THE SNOW | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

As a teenager while on a road trip with my father and brothers, I was fortunate to visit Yellowstone National Park and there saw herds of Buffalo grazing on the sweet grass of summer. I chronicle the lives of these thunderous beasts in this piece, Bison in the Snow . A small group of bison walks through a frozen landscape, perhaps looking for the anticipated warmth of the fully gathered herd. Trees, heavy with the winter’s snow, frame their majestic passing. The leader of the group pauses momentarily, surveying the terrain and looking in the moment as if he recognizes our observation.

SAVANNAH FAMILY | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In Savanah Family , I try and capture the theme of motherhood, this time in a family of giraffes. A loving mother stretches her long neck toward her young family, offering them access to the sweet foliage hidden in the tops of nearby trees. The youngsters, in return, stretch their necks up to receive this gift and savor the affection apparent in their mother’s effort spent. The sun sets in the distance suggesting sleep is nearing and for this family, all is right in their world.

A MOTHER'S EMBRACE | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

There is no place more wonderfully secure than in A Mother’s Embrace . It pushes out all sense of fear and concern and works to create loving bonds that will last a lifetime. In this piece, I explored this enduring emotional reality for a group of elephants enjoying a moment in an early evening light. Trunks intertwine as the mother looks down in adoration on her two calves while her babies return the gaze upward into the familiar face of their cherished matriarch. Such pachyderm families can stay together for years while the youngsters gain their footing and hone their ability to survive.

A MOTHER'S WARMTH | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In this piece, I attempt to capture the essence of a maternal bond. A Mother’s Warmth tells the story of a family of polar bears making their way in an unforgiving landscape. Like its human counterparts, the mama bear gives comfort to her children. In the case of this family, it is a physical warmth provided, but the protection of a parent can take many forms. My hope for this work is that it provides us all some reminder of what was given to us though the love of our own mothers.

ACORN AFFICIONADO | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In my painting, Acorn Aficionado , I begin to explore the whimsical world squirrelsand attempt to depict our titular character as a resident in all parts of it. The stump he sits upon is a well-stocked larder, brimming with stored food yet, the flowers and verdant greenery of the scene speak to it being springtime in the squirrel’s glen. He clearly has been busy and is far ahead of his storage schedule yet, he still waits to enjoy the reward. I think we all might take a lesson from this critter’s life plan. Work hard as you are able and relax knowing that the fruits of your labor await you!

BADGER'S DEN | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

There is a certain delight to rendering forest critters in their homes. There is magic and excitement to be found in the daily lives of toads, moles, and badgers. In my painting Badger’s Den , I try and capture a bit of that wonderment in the peering eyes of this woodland creature. In the Kenneth Grahame story Badger lives deep in the wildwood and is a kind and compassionate character who is always willing to help his friends. And while my badger is unlikely to take a ride with toad, he still exudes curiosity and a willingness to be met in his doorway with his nose poking out.

FOX HOLLOW | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

Welcome my friends to Fox Hollow . It is a place of magic. Throughout history and around the world, the fox has been a symbol for sly cunning and mischief, but it is also recognized as a protector and will often serve as a guide to those visiting the spirit realms. Here, the air is crisp and filled with the scents of wildflowers that mingle in the air. The sun breaks though the verdant canopy of the pine, cedar, and fir trees to create shape contrasts of shadow and light on the forest floor. And the rustle of the animals along with the songs of birds in the air give life to the woodland still.

SPIRIT OF THE NORTH | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

There is a majesty to be seen in this antlered elk. Alone on a snowy ridge, it gazes out into the horizon. It is as if a king were surveying his own kingdom. He wears a rack of bone like a crown to designate his dominion over all that is seen. The sun sits center on this royal headpiece as a jewel would be placed on regalia made by more lowly hands. He lords supreme and has fully embodied Spirit of the North . I have seen such wondrous animals on many of my personal trips to the varied wildlands that still exist. My hope is that the thrill of those encounters makes you feel you too have met a monarch.

WINTER GUARD | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In many cultures, courage, loyalty, and a thirst for freedom are characteristics that define the nature of the wolf. In Winter Guard the evening cold and the coming dark create a silence over the snow shrouded landscape. The wolf pack leader peers into the dim assessing the view for signs of danger and intrusion. The howl of his fellow fills the air to provide warning of the huddled group to others of their kind. The territory is theirs to roam and hunt as the next day dawns.

ROCKIN' OTTERS | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

The central California coast is known for many things - the beauty of the Pacific highway, the quaint village feel of Carmel, and the historical importance of the Monterey fishing enclave. It is, however, the flora and fauna of the area that cause visitors to flock there. Cypress trees, grey whales, and tide pools abound for the viewer’s examination. And then there are the otters. These adorable sea mammals play and swim and bound about the rocks, seemingly without a care in the world. I have painted otters many times, and each time I do, I walk away satisfied with the effort and smiling at its experience.

MOUNTAIN MAMA | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 16"X20"

There is perhaps no greater love than that which is felt between a mother and her babies and no stronger bond than that which holds a family together. A mother bear and her two cubs enjoy the crisp morning air of an early fall day in the Smoky Mountains. She slowly lifts her nose to the breeze sniffing for any intrusion into the peace she happily finds surrounding her small family. Finding none, she grants her little ones the pleasure of splashing in the river that flows on before her and of rollicking in the waterfall that tumbles down the limestone rock standing silently behind.

SNOW DAY | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In my work, Snow Day we find that tradition of family dynamic spreads even to the animal kingdom. A bear cub looks back at his mother wondering if he can find a playmate to enjoy the frosty day. The mother looks down with a loving patience, knowing that there still is forging to be done before the two might enjoy a winter's hibernation. As all families do, a compromise will be met between play and the practical so both mother and child will realize the fruits of their snow day together.

ANIMAL MISCHIEF SERIES

MOUNTAIN MECHANICS | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24"

When I travel, I make a habit of striking out from the beaten path to discover the small nooks and crannies of the American countryside. I am never disappointed when I do.  During those times and on such adventures, I have happened upon the inspiration for many of my favorite paintings.  Whether it is the gleeful mischief of otters swimming along the California coast or a cry of exasperation from a mother bear dealing with a den full of cubs, I have seen the like of these delightful scenarios as I ramble.

Mountain Mechanics is another example of such a happening, proving itself both a happily discovered experience and an eventually treasured reminiscence. Various critters gather and commune with each other in a shady spot.  An abandoned truck serves as a curiosity for a band of mischievous raccoons.  A toolbox sits nearby to help the gang of potential joy-riders ready their vehicle to hit the road.

Where this group of ne’er-do-wells might end up on their own road trip is beyond this tale to tell.  But, I have to believe in my painter’s heart that this “fix-it” crew will find their way into more mischief and trouble still.

OTTERLY RIDICULOUS | 2020

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24"

I remember playing with my brothers along the picturesque rocky coast of Carmel and Monterey.  Exploring tide pools, climbing about on cypress trees, walking in the surf, and watching the bay’s wildlife were often the fair of the day. The local fauna was especially enthralling to my young adventurer's mind.  Hearing the seals bark on the rocks and watching whales breech thrilled me with every encounter. But of all the creatures to be found there, the sea otters were always my favorite.  Seeing their mischievous fun was akin to watching a circus at sea and served as inspiration for my latest composition, Otterly Ridiculous . In my mind’s eye, these comical critters scamper about a rock and swim merrily in the watery forests of kelp.

In the distance we see cypress trees cling to the stark cliffs in defiance of the winter storms at sea that sometimes break ashore.  As tribute to both built beauty of man and the abundant kaleidoscopic of creation present there, I have hidden homage in the clouds, water, and cliffs. Lonesome gulls cry out over it all, giving mood to the scene as a whole.

BLACK BEAR BEDLAM | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 16"X20", 24"X30"

I sincerely love using mountain vistas and remote countryside as inspiration and backdrop for my oil compositions.   I also truly enjoy rendering the wildlife and crazy critters that live in these rustic areas as characters in these visual stories.  In Black Bear Bedlam : Mountain Mischief II , I try to capture both the warm invite of a rustic home and the zany antics of the bears who have happened upon it. In the distance, the owner approaches as a mother bear tries to calm a gathering of cubs; each of which clearly has their own agenda for the day’s fun. Two climb trees and tempt fate with their explorations of the limbs above, while others investigate the trappings of the cabin’s human residents. Smaller animals hide from the chaos or scamper away, hoping to avoid the consequence of any impending disaster. In all, I can think of no better way to describe this imaginary “wildlife” moment than to call it, Black Bear Bedlam . I hope you have found joy in your visit to this beautiful place and home to both man and menagerie.

MOUNTAIN MISCHIEF | 2017

SIZES AVAILABLE: 16"X20"

I love the hills and valleys you find in the Ozarks. The grand vistas, the fall colors, and the dappled sunlight as it falls into the hidden forest places all give a sense of adventure and fun to the viewer. You can lose yourself there and feel removed from anything but the wonderment around you. I am also fascinated with mountain life; both the people who live in these “places apart” and the “critters” that share in their existence. Mountain Mischief is my vision for this way of being. In it, a gaze of raccoons plays merrily with some old equipment left unattended by the folk of their “hallow”. Whether by starting a “jug band” or by investigating their new-found spoils, this rollicking group is assured to wind up finding trouble from their behavior. I can almost hear the shouts coming from the distant cabin as the ring-tailed “party” is discovered. And, I see the commotion that ensues as the evening shadows swallow this mischievous menagerie scurrying away and leaving a trail of chaos behind. In “Sunlight” or with “Moonshine”, I hope my Ozark Mountain story makes you smile each time you take a moment to visit.

AVIAN ACCENTS COLLECTION

CARDINAL IN WINTER | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

Birds are truly a delightful part of our natural surroundings. Whether it is the splash of color they provide in a verdant forest canopy or the cheery songs they tweet to break the mood of woodland silence, birds make me smile. I chose four of these feathered friends to bring this reality to life and represent it across the four seasons. As part of the series, Cardinals, Hummingbirds, Tuft titmice and Chickadees were all placed in surroundings befitting their merry existence at different times of year.

CHICKADEES IN SPRING | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

Birds are truly a delightful part of our natural surroundings. Whether it is the splash of color they provide in a verdant forest canopy or the cheery songs they tweet to break the mood of woodland silence, birds make me smile. I chose four of these feathered friends to bring this reality to life and represent it across the four seasons. As part of the series, Cardinals, Hummingbirds, Tuft titmice and Chickadees were all placed in surroundings befitting their merry existence at different times of year.

FLOWER PATCH VISITOR | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

Butterflies are truly a natural indulgence. Their flutter and their color both dominate their life purpose and satisfy my personal sense of delighted aesthetic. They are also the perfect subjects for a spring painting. In my composition a blue butterfly settles into a patch of red, pink flowers. It feels the flowers are group of fellow flutterers congregated in the spring grass. Or the flowers attract the blue fly because of the sweet fragrance they provide to the wafting air. In either case, the settled visitor provides a beautiful blue contrast to the floral surround.

HUMMINGBIRDS IN SUMMER | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

Birds are truly a delightful part of our natural surroundings. Whether it is the splash of color they provide in a verdant forest canopy or the cheery songs they tweet to break the mood of woodland silence, birds make me smile. I chose four of these feathered friends to bring this reality to life and represent it across the four seasons. SNOWY OWL | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

The owl has long been a subject of popular concern. Called the "Bird of Athena", it is often given credit for great intelligence. Owl has served as a familiar to wizarding folks in literature. The owl's natural magnificence , particularly the Snowy Owl, earns my devoted fascination . It is larger than most owls and has eyesight that can spot small prey up to a half mile away. Its unworldly stealth and raptor instincts make this owl's downward swooping face the last thing that

small animals see before their own swift demise.

TUFTED TITMOUSE IN AUTUMN | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

Birds are truly a delightful part of our natural surroundings. Whether it is the splash of color they provide in a verdant forest canopy or the cheery songs they tweet to break the mood of woodland silence, birds make me smile. I chose four of these feathered friends to bring this reality to life and represent it across the four seasons. As part of the series, Cardinals, Hummingbirds, Tuft titmice and Chickadees were all placed in surroundings befitting their merry existence at different times of year.

HUMMING ALONG | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In this exploration I worked to capture the magic of a hummingbird in a garden oasis. Hoovering in a way that almost defies gravity, a little avian denizen living in my imagined garden steals honeysuckle from a springtime flower and in doing so works to pollinate and spread the food source which helps sustain it. As the humming bird darts about the day, other birds look on and add a cacophonic sound-tract the events that are unfolding. The activities fit each other well and so meld to create the initial peace simply experienced but far from simple in its nature.

WINTER RED | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

KNOCK WOOD | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

The Pileated Woodpecker is the largest type of woodpecker in North America. It is big, beautiful, and noisy. They look dark when perched in a tree but when flying, their bright white wings are easily seen. These birds are found year-round in Tennessee, and now they also inhabit two of my paintings. One is here, fully rendered and the singular subject of my effort in oil called Knock Wood . The second is in my painting, Spirit of the Smokies . In that effort my wood knocking friend is more difficult to spot but if you look closely you will find him.

When I see a cardinal, I see my sweet grandmother, “Mamacita” (as we called her), smiling and speaking Spanish to me, though it is not a language I comprehend. It has been said that an angel gets its wings whenever there is a “shooting star”. This may be true. I believe it may also be the case that when Mamacita got her wings, they may have been red and that one of the Cardinals I see in my neighborhood trees is her lovingly looking out for me. I love you Mamacita. I hope you enjoy Winter Red . I painted it for you.

BIG CATS SERIES

TIGER JUNGLE | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27"

There is nothing more mysterious and intriguing as the jungle. The verdant foliage hides beauty, discovery and danger from the casual viewer and works to create a beamed tapestry of broken light that will wash down from the canopy to the earthen floor below. In my mind, these wild places are the province of Rudyard Kipling where ancient ruins are found, elephants bath in flowered rivers and, most profoundly, lone tigers stalk looking for their prey. Tiger Jungle is my first painting and a tribute to these magnificent animals and their predatory majesty. Join me in this adventure as I visit the domains of lions, snow leopards and cougars on coming canvases. For now, however, enjoy Tiger Jungle and contemplate with me an old Ethiopian proverb I found to be true. “Do not blame God for having created the tiger, but thank him for not having given it wings.”

DC COMICS SERIES

THE JOKER’S™ BALL | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

The gang’s all here! And nothing could make Gotham™ City’s Clown Prince of Crime happier. Come along with me as I explore the characters and narratives of the DC universe in my latest painting. Wandering through this criminal carnival you will find yourself face to face with the villainy’s elite, brought together to hatch a new and nefarious scheme. In The Joker’s™ Ball , I have included many DC villains drawn to The Joker’s hideout to share in his dire vision. Not to worry, however, because Batman™ is also vigilant and present, ready to bring down this house of cards. I am a fan of comics, and their importance to our collective popular culture cannot be denied. I am honored and excited to capture these iconic characters.

DEEP IN THE HEART SERIES

KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

The rolling hills, plank fences and steepled barns of Kentucky bluegrass country are iconic for their beauty and equine romance. The horse farm and the family who lives there are depicted here in Deep in the Heart II: Kentucky Bluegrass to give the viewer a taste of that bucolic existence. Thoroughbreds romp in the field and a mare and its foal enjoy the attentions of a father and daughter while the ranch dog playfully approaches. In the background, we see the beginnings of the preparations made for “derby day” as a horse stretches it legs into a full-fledged gallop. The clouds, themselves, fill with the thunderous sound of a ghost herd looking down over pastures once their home. Deep in the Heart II: Kentucky Blue Grass is my homage to a way of life, the majesty of the horse and the beauty of the region that fosters both. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I enjoyed taking you there.

DEEP IN THE HEART | 2017

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27"

In this piece, a cowboy returns home after a day on the range bringing in a stray calf that had wandered too far from his mother.  A faithful dog runs alongside the horse and rider as a ranch hand waves his welcome.  Moving toward the horizon, a breeze creaks through an old windmill as the dropping of Texas sun begins the transition into a starlit night.  This is my vison of the comforting rhythm of this simple hard-working lifestyle but I hope that it will move you to realize your own.  Home is assuredly a place to visit but it also resides in us all, Deep in the Heart . For those of you who enjoy the fun of discovery, I invite you to look very closely at this composition.  In it you will find a “horn frog”, the official reptile of Texas.  In the sky above, a lone dove flies, homage to a famous series of books and films of Texas life and the horse’s haunch bears the initials “JR”, another tribute, this time to a famous fictional Texan.  Noteworthy Texas brand designs, locally known critters and, of course, a fabled “longhorn” all can be seen on the canvas.  Some of these details are hidden and some are more obvious to see but all there for the viewer to uncover.

EUROPEAN VOYAGE COLLECTION

GONDOLAS OF VENICE | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 9"X12"

There is a true magic to be felt walking the cobbled streets of Venice and the meandering cannels of this ancient Italian seaport. But of all things that are a source of Venetian enchantment, it is the gondola and gondolier that play the greatest part in its existence. In the day, you can watch these boats taking their passengers on voyages of curiosity and delight as they navigate the city's waterways. And even more moving, you can hear the oarsmen singing in the night, giving romantic mood to all couples who come aboard their vessels.

ROMANTIC RIDE | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 9"X12"

One of the most familiar "snapshot-picture" summaries of the Oscar winner film, Roman Holiday , is of the two main characters sharing an Italian scooter as they race through the crowded and picturesque streets of Rome. This image of a man and woman enjoying the hug of a two-wheeled ride together has become ingrained into the American perspective of Italian courtship. It is such a fun image; I decided to paint Romantic Ride and invite you all to picture yourself on the scooter adventuring with the one you love or at least the one you love to be with.

TRIESTE, ITALY | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

My Uncle Thom often said that “it was not the artist’s duty to paint what is there but, rather they might brush what should be there.” And so, I followed this advice while painting Castello di Miramare in Trieste, Italy . This is not to say that the Austrian architecture of this Hapsburg dwelling is not as magnificent as it is depicted for indeed, it is grand. Nor is it to deny the beauty of the gardens that surround the structure because indeed, they are splendid. And I cannot say that the sea which fronts the estate is not clear and calm with the azure color of a robin’s egg for, without a doubt, it is all that and more. What I can say is that while Trieste was scheduled as a port-of-call in my Italian cruise itinerary because of problems at the dock, my ship was not allowed to land. What I had planned to paint, therefore, was rendered from photo references and my own imagination. As my uncle suggested, I painted what should have been there - except for issues created by irate longshoremen!

HISTORICAL MOMENTS SERIES

BY THE DAWN’S EARLY LIGHT: FORT MCHENRY 1814 | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X24"

There is nothing that stirs the patriot’s heart more than a rendition of our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner . Whether it be played at the start of a raucous sporting event or sung solemnly to honor our county’s military, the song embodies the indomitable American spirit and its willingness to fight on even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Francis Scott Key penned the lyrics to the song during the Battle of Baltimore in 1814 as the British bombarded the American held Fort McHenry. Both Key’s poignant and poetic descriptions of that night and the historical circumstance of the attack serve as the basis for the composition of my painting, By the Dawn’s Early Light: Fort McHenry 1814 In the foreground, American soldiers run about their garrison, manning battlements and preparing cannons to answer the British naval threat. Overhead bombs burst in the air and rockets light up the morning sky, all the while, smoke from the fires set by the shelling flow through the scene like harbingers of a pending American defeat. Nevertheless, through it all, “Old Glory” waves defiantly against the loss that seemed so certain. We as citizens of this country should never take for granted the hard won freedoms Americans enjoy and I hope this painting inspires that kind of reflection its viewers.

HOLIDAY ACCENTS COLLECTION

LIGHT OF A NEW YEAR | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 9"X12"

A small audience gathers on a snowy winter's evening. Rocketed from the village below them, fireworks light up the night sky. It is New Year's Eve, and the raucous celebration that started just a moment ago will extend far beyond the passing midnight hour. As I get older, I have learned to fully appreciate each passing year for all that it gave me and to look forward to the next one coming fora the opportunity it unfolds. I wish each of you that sense of hopeful emergence for every day of your life and want you to always enjoy the Light of a New Year

MRS. CLAUS | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

While Old Saint Nick must spend much of the Yuletide driving a sleigh and delivering gifts all over the world, he still comes home to the place where he is loved best. Mrs. Claus is waiting. She knits contentedly by a warm fire, finishing a last gift to give to her jolly husband. The smile on her face betrays her gleeful mood and happy anticipation of her husband's return and their own Christmas fun. They will share a moment together and a cup of cocoa before watching the elves open their own gifts.

OLD ST NICK | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

There is no character as anticipated and jovial than Old St. Nick , and I could not resist the opportunity to pay homage to this Christmas spirit through oil and canvas. From the red in his cheeks and the white in his beard to the gold in his buttons and twinkling blue eyes, this is the Father Christmas I have envisioned since childhood. While I saw my dad in the Santa suit, he would wear on occasion, I never saw the real deal clamoring down our chimney. His elusive nature, however, never dissuaded me from trying to spy out his whereabout.

SANTA'S LITTLE HELPER | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

A young elf (or maybe ancient) works tirelessly at his table creating a toy train designed to delight its soon-to-be recipient. The portrait Santa bears witness to the task as the job is completed. Santa's little helpers are there to launch Santa and his bountiful sack on his hurried flight to the houses of all believers. I try to capture both the enchantment and practical effort of these magic helpers in my latest holiday painting, Santa’s Little Helper . In recognizing the effort, I say, "Cheers to the Elves" and all they do to make our holidays special.

A REINDEER'S FINERY | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

In A Reindeer’s Finery , I take one of the most essential denizens of the yule-tide holiday and imagine what they might do when their work is done. In my vision of the North Pole and specifically in a wonderful place I call “Reindeer Meadows,” Santa’s traditional toy-haulers play their reindeer games and then bring in the New Year with a spectacular party! Indeed, they put on their most colorful adornments, giving mirth to all those there to enjoy the moment and fill their own lives with the light they provide to many others on Christmas Eve.

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS SERIES

EASTER SUNDAY | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

The joy of a holiday and its celebration can take many forms. Easter, for example is a time of the Passion Play and reverence for the hoped-for reclamation of the human spirit. But it is also a time of good-natured fun and child-like belief in magic. In my work Easter Sunday , I try and capture both cultural traditions.  A small country church sits in a meadow where a community of the faithful has just let out; a morning of song and sermon well spent.  Colored eggs are hidden for the children to hunt as the Easter Bunny scampers away. Have fun trying to find all 208 colored eggs I have hid in the landscape for your enjoyment.

THE BIG EASY | 2021

SIZES AVAILABLE: 16"X20", 24"X30", 32"X40"

In my painting, The Big Easy , revelers fill the streets as a Mardi Gras parade dances by the city’s famous balconies. The sound of jazz wafts through the crowds as beads are thrown, and concoctions of good cheer are hoisted in observance of Fat Tuesday.  I smile, thinking of the thrill felt while being swept along in that wave of humanity.  Look closely at the gathering and discover allusions to the Crescent City’s most notable and notorious denizens.  From pirates to piano players, they are all there as part of the envisioned festival and adding to the cacophony of sound it might create.

THANKSGIVING IN NEW YORK | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 25.5"X34"

There is probably nothing more exciting than the fall and winter holidays in New York City. There is probably nothing more central to that excitement than the Thanksgiving Day parade. Standing in the brisk air, marching bands play, floats pass by and overhead, whimsical balloons fill the sky. In my mind, the parade procession begins with the scary fun of Halloween as depicted by the jack-o-lantern seen moving down the street and into the distance. Then, a Thanksgiving turkey and old Saint Nick take center stage of the celebration. Baby New Year follows, bringing up the rear and marking the turn of another calendar page. You may notice one of New York’s most famous visitors, a gorilla who would be king, and another fabled bestie of imagination, that many of us can only hope to see when the unusual occurs.

INSPIRATIONAL SERIES

PRAYER FOR MY FATHER | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X12", 27"X18"

The account of the lives of Jesus and his Apostles is profoundly moving.  It tells us Jesus came to this world to establish a church in preparation for his second coming and to redeem mankind from sin through God’s grace. He understood his destiny and knew that on his walked path he would experience betrayal by one he loved and trusted. In Prayer for my Father , I attempt to capture that moment of human emotion as Jesus prepares to fulfill his ordained sacred sacrifice. I humbly hope my work provides the sense of Jesus as both the divine savior and as mortal man and touches you on your own path in faith.

FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X24", 18"X36", 24"X48"

Everything from America’s purple mountain majesties to its alabaster cities gleam are part of the composition’s background. Yet, it is the historical accomplishments of Americans and the noble expansion of liberty that truly provide the thematic beat to this painting’s heart. And, of course, in the center of it all stands our flag, Old Glory, and the noble eagle as two symbols of our indivisible republic.

BEYOND THE FARTHEST STAR | 2015

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X24"

Thomas Kinkade, my brother, was privileged to see Beyond the Farthest Star prior to its release and was immediately moved. The above verse from Isaiah came to his mind during its viewing and in relation to the themes portrayed in this magnificent film. Thom cried thinking of the Lord's capacity to restore, redeem and reconcile even in what may appear to be the most hopeless of circumstances. As he often did, Thom wished to take brush to canvas and express his heart in oil. He wanted others to know what the film made him feel about the rebirth we are promised in the Bible and that the story depicted. Sadly, we are only allowed a glimmer of what that masterpiece may have been. The painting planned was only realized through sketch work and color study, the oil work would never come to be.The passing of my brother profoundly affected all who knew him and for time this project was, as were many others, lost in our collective grief. Then Thom's initial work caught the eye of Zachary Thomas Kinkade, my son and Thom's nephew. He, like his uncle, is an artist of accomplishment and a prodigious talent. As Zac had opportunity to see the film and thought of what his Uncle Thom had started he picked up the mantle and asked to be allowed to finish the painting. And so, Zachary and all of us involved in this work are allowed to give beauty for ashes. A small family gathers at an overlook to their small town. Above them stretches the infinite heavens and a singular question. What lies beyond the farthest star? We all miss you Thom. We know you have found the answer to that question and wait there to share it with us all. To those who knew him, to those who cared about him and to all those who will come to see him in and love him through his work, God bless and thank you for sharing the light. - Patrick Kinkade

LITERARY CLASSICS SERIES

A CHRISTMAS CAROL | 2020

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

"I work to be a storyteller in my art. Whether it is my own tale that I am telling or the musings of another raconteur, I love to provide my viewers with an imaginative visual journey.  In A Christmas Carol , I attempt to capture the literary sojourn of one of the world's greatest fabulists, Charles Dickens.  This painting of his culturally profound novella has all of its major characters brushed into existence.  Of course, the four visiting ghosts of tradition make an appearance. Marley's Ghost and the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future are all fully realized to scrutinize and sermonize my frightened Ebenezer Scrooge sitting awake in his parlor. But beyond these denizens of the great beyond and their singular mortal target of concern, this painting pays homage to others who inhabit Dickens' world. Look closely, and you will find Fezziwig, Scrooge's old mentor, whose jovial nature and generosity stand in stark contrast to Ebenezer's miserly ways.  And, of course, there are Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim, characters designed to show the true meaning of holiday happiness and evoke the charity of the Christmas spirit. A Christmas Carol  is a long-standing holiday favorite, and I hope that this interpretation will inspire holiday ""spirit"" in all who see it."

MOVIE NIGHT ON ROUTE 66 - WESTERN AT THE DRIVE INN | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27"

Welcome to America’s Main Street and one of this country’s great motoring traditions! I wanted to explore the fun and nostalgia for the drive-in movie. My father always tells stories of the Se Rancho drive-in where he and my Uncle Thom enjoyed countless family evenings at the theater playground and eating snow cones from the snack stand. In their teen years, they would hide in the trunks of friends’ cars to sneak into the movie or borrow their mother’s truck to go on dates with their girlfriends. In my imagination, the starlight is filled with automobiles and film characters that graced Hollywood’s silver screen. Look closely and you may see a British superspy and his signature sports car in addition to a very amorous beetle. Two female outlaws sit in their signature ride enjoying the film, while a musical couple stand by their Greased Lightning™ on a hot summer's night. There is a station wagon ready for a vacation and even a stainless steel car designed to get you to the future and back in film. Whether you are a fan of science fiction, horror, westerns or romance, I hope you enjoy your night at the movies.

GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66 | 2016

SIZES AVAILABLE: 16"X20", 24"X30"

There is probably nothing more iconic in relation to American vacation plans than the idea of a “road trip”. And there is probably nothing more spiritually tied to that sojourner’s dream than Route 66, the “Main Street of America”. Indeed, the beauty of this country and the fun of its people are both to be found along this fabled ribbon of asphalt in addition to some “crazy by-way kitsch” that is the source of both memories and amusement. Join me as I begin this journey and travel this 2,500 mile thoroughfare from Chicago to Santa Monica stopping at many places along the way. In this piece, I pay tribute to the motorcyclist and their modern day iron horses. Look closely in the painting and you might recognize one of film’s earliest two-wheeled rebels as well as a notorious easy rider. I have also placed reference to some of the most noted makes of motorcycle for you to discover as you explore my canvas. My grandfather loved the lure of the open road, a feeling that was translated to my father and uncle and now to me and my own brothers.

MOUNTAIN LIVING SERIES

BLACK BEAR CABIN | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

Like my uncle and father before me, I am drawn to the Smoky Mountains. There is so much to experience in that Tennessee wildland that it was a delightful challenge trying to capture it all on a single canvas. The magic haze found in discovered vistas, the mountain menagerie well met in the dense and colored fauna, and the hill-country culture expressed by the people who revel in the hills and hallows of this wooded surround all add to the joy of heart and the peace of spirit I feel while visiting.  Black Bear Cabin  attempts to translate my emotional tie and spiritual awakening to its viewer. From the old red truck and the wood carvers’ handcraft to the audience of critters sharing a home in my cabin to the spirits of nature held in the mist, all that make the Smokies so special are revealed for your examination. I hope this painting is an inspiration to those who have never visited this place and an affirmation for those who already have. The magic in these hills is real and a gift to those who will open themselves to it.

NIGHTMARES IN HAUNTED HALLOW SERIES

COVEN COTTAGE | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

"Double, double, toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble."   The witch's hut has been an on-going fascination in literature and folklore. Whether it is from Shakespeare's play Macbeth or the Brother's Grim fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel, these dark abodes and their contents truly thrill the imagination. The spells that cast there are drawn from ingredients that would disgust the palette and repel the eye. Wing of bat, throat of frog and coffin's dust are but a few of the seasonings used to reach a magical end. Owls, rats, and cats also abound. As supernatural familiars they stay close to their witch owners, so they may work to help in their master's dark designs. And, at the center of it all is the cauldron. This evil urn glows green and lets out orders no human could bear but which delights the cook of the malignant brew it contains. I had fun exploring my imagination to create this fanciful home to the witches born of stories told on dark nights under a full moon.

HALLOWEEN AT HORROR HARBOR | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water, I present to you my latest in good-fun terror, Halloween at Horror Harbor . My Uncle Thom always used the lighthouse as a metaphor to suggest safe passage and the welcome of home, but I have fully turned that message around and have completely released the Kraken! No sailor, traveler or denizen of the docks should feel welcome in horror harbor considering the creatures that populate this ghastly and ghoulish waterfront. Giant creatures rise from the sea to do battle in the distance while a skeleton crew comes ashore to wreak their own havoc. Fiends look out from port windows as the bay itself swirls to pull down any unsuspecting boatsman attempting to cross. For those of you who have come to expect his visits, “Poe the Pug” looks on as startled as always at being cast away in this nautical nightmare. I love the fun of a good scare and so does he or at least, he better!

A SUPERNATURAL RETREAT | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

It is an often-held dream to live in a peaceful retreat and a place where perfect days both begin and end. But what happens these places past midnight has also been a point of concern. If you are one who knows the primal fear that the ominous dark can evoke, join me as I explore this harrowing consideration.

A lone resident stands on the porch of his small forest abode while creatures of every sort begin to congregate in the wild woods which surround him. Chainsaws sound in the distance and strange lights fill the night sky. Monsters of long-told myth and current urban legends join the bone-hilling surround as our helpless visitor loses hope of seeing a safe sunrise.

A Supernatural Retreat is designed to scare the fun right into you! There are over 40 references to be found of beasties, butchers and all things that go bump in the night in this happily horrific composition.

A GHOULISH GATHERING | 2021

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

For all of you who love ghouls and ghosts and things that go bump in the night, I “submit for your approval” my latest painting, A Ghoulish Gathering. I hope you will be “bewitched” by the composition. It is a celebration of the simple fun to be had by being scared.

Homage to modern denizens of today’s horror films fills the scene while classic creatures from our long-standing nightmares provide their own familiar chills. A killer from our dreams enjoys the evening, and everyone’s favorite ax murderer has a drink while slowly sinking into a madness inspired by the grim nature of the hotel he caretakes. The Mummy talks to friends, and Dracula lords over all those who have attended the party. There are over 40 ghastly tributes for you to find in this creepy composition that will ensure you will have as much fun exploring the piece as I had creating it. Even Poe, my brother’s very sweet and slightly addled dog, makes a ghostly appearance chasing a black cat.

POE'S PARK | 2020

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

It is often said that dogs are "man's best friend," and there are times, at least, when I would be hard-pressed to argue against the sentiment.  I grew up with pet dogs, and each was a lovable member of my home and family. Buster, a Great Pyrenees, was my first, and he truly was a gentle giant.  Buster used to lay on the lawn while wild rabbits hopped around him.  He seemed to enjoy their company. Then came Apollo, a golden lab and Shetland pony mix, who also was a canine wrecking machine.  He once ate the windows in my house, trying to get outside to look at a wayward bird.  To say the least, my father was not pleased. Now I have Keanu, a Siberian whose major goal in life is to play anything with anyone at any time, and my brother lives with Poe, the pug.

This small pooch has a large character and is a small celebrity in collector circles as his face is unforgettable. He also makes routine guest appearances in my published paintings.

Poe's Park is an homage to all of our four-legged barking companions.  Though often into trouble, it is hard to imagine a truer heart than in our furry best friends.  Look carefully or miss some fun tributes to our favorite canines.

SANTA'S NORTHLAND SERIES

CHRISTMAS TREE FOREST | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

To those who love Christmas magic, there is nothing so treasured as a visit to the North Pole. And for those merry souls who have followed my work over the years, you all know there are many enchanted parts to that holiday kingdom. We visited Tinsel Town and the mischievous elves that live there. We have also shivered through the Snowman Village on this artic tour and found our frosty friends live very much like we do ourselves. And now, we arrive at the Christmas Tree Forest where every home’s glorious yule tide center piece is grown fully decorated and ready to be flown down south to deserving families. In this doing, Woodland creatures gather to help Santa and his elves in their tree delivery preparations while a festive train pulls to a rest, bringing additional workers and supplies to the effort. As is often sung in a favorite carol, “It is the most wonderful time of the year.” And so, it is.

SNOWMAN SANCTUARY | 2022

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

Have you ever wondered where snowmen go when the weather gets warm? I have, and hopefully my next excursion to the North Pole will give an answer to that question for us all. Snowman Sanctuary is a whimsical look at a small town populated by snow people on respite from their winter duties down south. In Santa’s magic realm, it is cold all year long and perfect for our friends with carrot noses and coal lump eyes. Scan the village and discover fun details about its inhabitants. Dicken’s “Christmas Carol” is apparent on the main street, while a yeti helps adorn the town in its seasonal decorations. Jack Frost flies from his castle on a stream of ice and magic, while Santa engages in a friendly chat with a snowy city official.

SPECIAL PLACES SERIES

LAST LIGHT AT SEQUOIA | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

The theme of solitude is an idea I have grappled with in several of my earlier paintings. I find the notion compelling in that it is a condition we all must face sometime during our life journey. It is said that we enter this existence alone and invariably we must leave it the same way. I believe the time spent in solitude between this start and finish works to grow the human spirit and extends its capacity to actualize. The woodsman that camps in this composition does so in the presence of the great trees of the northwest. In solitude he reflects, and the timber’s size gives him pause. He gains insight into his position in life and humankind’s place in creation. The darkness is settling around him, but points of light still exist in the gathering shade. The solitude created continues its work within him.

EAGLE PEAK LODGE | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24"

Eagle Peak Lodge took flight in my imagination. This magical cabin is set high on a mountain allowing its residence majestic views of the valley below. Rabbits and deer visit the abode while an eagle in its nest stands watching over the entire surrounding. I love the world’s wildlands and Eagle Peak is a place I would love to visit. The freshness of the air, the warmth of the cabin and the profoundly beautiful vistas would nurture the mind, heart, and spirit in their experience. My uncle Thom used to call paintings “a small vacation” that you can hang on the wall. Looking into a canvas allows the viewer to leave their troubles behind and find comfort in the artist’s hand in oil. Eagle Peak Lodge does that for me; it is refuge against my ever more demanding schedule.

MONUMENT VALLEY, AFTER THE STORM | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

The sandstone buttes of Monument Valley are well known for their beauty and the spiritual resonance they provide to the Indigenous nation of Navajo people that populate this area of northern Arizona. Further, the vistas of the valley helped define the image of the American west because of the many films shot using these formations as backdrop. It is easy to understand their use in that regard. The movie goer is given a glimpse of the magic that has been felt there from antiquity.

I have traveled to the valley with my family on several occasions but have only recently taken the time to capture its grandeur in oil. Still, in doing so, I too truly grew a connection to the subject matter and a feel for its energy. In my work, a lone rider works his way across the terrane as a rainbow’s arc highlights the sky. Shadows grow long as the day passes, and the traveler looks ahead to the horizon. His isolation enhances the majesty before him and the feelings coming from within. Hopefully, my humble effort will have the same effect for those sharing my view of Monument Valley.

SOUTHWEST SUNRISE | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 9"X12"

A small adobe pueblo sits perched upon a mesa looking down into the valley below. The warming sun glances off the towering red rock to fill the day with light and anticipation. Desert flowers and plants add color to the landscape already vibrant with the hue of the stone.

WARMTH OF HOME | 2024

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X9"

The Warmth of Home is an expression well used to describe a fire's heat coupled with the glow of its combustion beneath the family hearth. Almost nothing can be as enticing as the opportunity to curl up in that light and ward off the cold and darkness beyond its reach. Despite the sanguine feel a flame provides, however, an even greater comfort comes from the emotional warmth a family can provide itself.

I try and capture the sense of both physical and familial warmth in this small vignette rendered with brush in oil. The physical cold, suited only for a friendly snowman, is held at bay outside a small dwelling. Inside, the ties of a gathered family are seen and give fuller definition to the concepts of home and love.

MACKINAC ISLAND | 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 18"X24"

In the Straights of Mackinac and at the juncture of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron exists the Old Mackinac Point Light, a once proud sentinel warning passing ships of rocky danger as they steamed by the island on which it was constructed. Built in 1892 but still abiding on Mackinac Island as a tie to its historic past, the structure is beautiful and well worth my efforts to capture it in oil. I did not stop there, however. Its surroundings are so impressive that I decided to paint beyond the simple light and attempted to capture the island more in its entirety. The Mackinac Bridge, “Big Mac,” spans the straight connecting the once far-removed coastlines of Michigan’s upper and lower peninsulas. The beauty and size of this suspension is unrivaled. And should you desire to take it all in with afternoon tea, the is no grander place than on the porches of the hotels on Mackinac. I love to travel and share my experiences. I hope you enjoyed this one. Go to Mackinac Island and relax, eat fudge, and enjoy the romance.

STORIES FROM THE RAILS SERIES

THUNDER IN THE MOUNTAINS | 2021

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

A steady drumbeat echoes through the mountains, louder than the roar of the waterfall that rushes down the ravine through which the pounding sound bounces. A train is passing in the river's gorge. On it are travelers filled with excitement and a sense of adventure that only a ride on the rails can provide. Creatures of the forest stop to listen and watch while two fishermen cast a line at the water's edge. It is a scene melding the majesty of indomitable nature and the efforts of humankind to tame it. It is also a visualized moment that speaks to my own sense of wanderlust and is reminiscent of sojourns taken long ago in my childhood.

Thunder in the Mountains is the first painting in the Stories from the Rails collection, a series of oils paying homage to the railroading tradition and what the steam whistle's call does to the listener's heart. I hope you will all join me on this journey as I explore the steel ribbon that connects cities and towns to each other and the world's wild spaces to both. "All aboard!"

STORIES OF THE BIBLE SERIES I

GARDEN OF EDEN | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

In this work, I not only wanted to depict the beauty and essential nature of the Garden of Eden but I attempted to give vision to those first moments in time when God created the universe and separated the light from the dark. In looking at the Tree of Life, one can see the cosmos unfolding in its branches as the divine plans for all reality make themselves apparent in the bark. Each of the 6 days of creation are there and represented. Adam and Eve look on as creatures of the land, air, and water come forth into the glory of the garden. In the garden, life from the entire world is represented. And finally as light came from dark and creation from the void, so did corruption arise from perfection in the garden as the serpent appears in Eden.

EXODUS | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X24", 18"X36", 24"X48"

The story of Exodus is one of the most powerfully moving narratives in the Bible and, indeed, one of the most important readings in all of world culture. The importance of covenant, the promise of salvation, and the proof of an ever-present God are all revealed in this magnificent tale. It is my hope that through this painting these foundational ideas are made apparent and feed the spiritual growth of those who view it. It is also the case that I wanted to tell the story of Exodus in full. From the finding of a baby in a basket in the reeds along the shore of the Nile to the moment God provided his Commandments on Mount Sinai, the entire tale is told. Look to the turbulent waves and the rolling clouds and see the many scenes unfold.

JONAH | 2017

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

The Book of Jonah is a biblical volume that gives evidence of the power of an almighty God who can summon a fierce storm at will and raise a miraculous “great fish” form the ocean depths. Yet it is also a tale of God’s mercy and ability to deliver those in peril from the harms and threats that may befall them. I took inspiration for my Jonah from many sources. From the master painters of the Renaissance to the illustrators of modern day children’s books, there have been many important and delightful artistic renderings of this text and I enjoyed studying them all. In my painting, the leviathan that God summoned attacks a ship while his storm rages around it. Jonah is cast overboard to meet his fate while those aboard honor God and pray for his mercy. While many have interpreted the story as making reference to a whale, I adopted a more literal approach and created the “great fish” that the Bible verses specifically reference.

NOAH'S ARK | 2015

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27"

There are few Bible stories more familiar than that of Noah's Ark . It is first taught to children in Sunday school as a tale highlighting the importance of obedience to God and of His promise to provide a means to wash away sin without washing away the sinner. The account gives foundation to the new covenant and the story of Jesus and Calvary. In an attempt to capture that narrative as an artist, I wanted to give prominence to the rainbow of God as an act of the Divine as opposed to a by-product of rain and light. To that purpose, I painted the rainbow extending beyond what is possible and into what can be done by the hand of the Creator. I enjoyed selecting the animals and wanted to represent the flood as a world event so I tried to find some balance between the animals of each continent, from the African lion to the North American elk. I also wanted all life represented: from reptile to bird to mammal, both domestic and wild.

STORIES OF THE BIBLE SERIES II

DAVID AND GOLIATH | 2025

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27", 24"X36"

David and Goliath is a tale rich in detail and one which translates well onto the canvas. In my depiction David, the young shepherd, classically faces the Philistine warrior giant, Goliath, armed only with his slingshot and armored only with his faith. The lamb following David signifies the presence of his God as the clouds in the distant sky serve to foretell the story’s outcome. And, most important of all, the messages in the parable become clear; have faith and find courage and never underestimate an opponent. Do these things and, as David fell his indominable foe, all is possible.

DANIEL IN THE LION'S DEN 2023

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

Daniel in the Lion’s Den is truly an inspiring story. It is one that speaks both to the power of faith and the rewards of piety. When Daniel continues to pray to the God of Israel despite a royal decree to stop, he is punished for his transgressions and thrown into a pit of wild big cats. God’s angel stayed the ferocity of the lions, however, and allowed Daniel to survive the encounter.

THE THREE WISEMEN 2021

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

The visit of the three wise men bringing gifts to Bethlehem in honor of the birth of the Christ child is a story that has been told as part of the Christmas tradition since time immemorial. In spoken word and joyous song, players in holiday pageants recount the journey from the east of Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar to a humble manger surrounded by lowly animals and heavenly angels, laying under a divine star.

WORLDS OF WONDERS SERIES

STORYBOOK LAND | 2021

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27"

There is an innocence and fun that comes with revisiting childhood stories. Mother Goose nursery rhymes and fairy tales from both the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen evoke smiles and nostalgia from even the most quieted adult imaginations. In my work Storybook Land , I have attempted to capture many of my favorite childhood tales in a whimsical view of a fantasy realm where these adventures are true, and the colorful characters involved in them all might exist.

Look closely and see that here, there is, indeed, an old woman who lives in a shoe and Jack and Jill did go up that troublesome hill. It is also the case that giants tend to live at the top of beanstalks and Goldilocks truly had an unfortunate run-in with three unsuspecting bears. Join me to fully explore this magical place. There are over 30 references to popular nursery rhymes and fairy tales rendered into this composition.

Think back and let the child inside you revel in their rediscovery and give the children in your life a chance to enjoy your telling of the stories.

HEAVEN | 2020

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X16", 18"X24", 30"X40"

As children we all have dreams of what heaven may be and of what joys we will ultimately find there. For many adults, I believe, those innocent early visions may still hold true later in life. In this painting for my Worlds of Wonder series I explore the hereafter as my childhood-self for everyone to enjoy.

In Heaven , I embellish all the divine features of eternity that we might learn about in Sunday School with fanciful additions that we can all hope to be part of the Creator’s grand design. Saint Peter watches the “Pearly Gates”, checking the Book of Life for those who may enter. The “Heavenly Host” sings while angels go about their sacred interests. Good dogs and beloved cats await their former masters as a joyous family reunion proceeds in the background. Look closely and see an artist gazing into the sunlit sky, smiling as the glory that is above shines down for all of those still toiling below. Other small surprises are hidden in the clouds, rendered to give a wink to the viewer and maybe hope to some for all that might be.

SANTA'S NORTH POLE | 2019

SIZES AVAILABLE: 16"X20", 24"X30", 32"X40"

Has there ever been a more magical place to delight the child in us all than Santa’s North Pole ? In this creation for my Worlds of Wonder series I take the viewer on a trip to this enchanting realm. For the collector who looks closely, there is an abundance of fun to be discovered. Beyond Santa and Mrs. Claus, a variety of Christmas-time characters have been whimsically rendered for all to enjoy. Jack Frost, Frosty the Snowman and Krampus all wander the “Tinsletown” village as the elves go about their mirthful business. Look carefully at the many buildings there to recognize some of the most prominent stores and establishments of this fabled frozen land. In the middle of it all stands a glorious tree adored with ornaments and lights, glowing as tribute to the fun and fantasy of the season. As Santa’s Christmas is a time of gift-giving and good cheer, so I wish this composition to be my gift to you and a source of your joy and jubilation the entire year round.

TRANSYLVANIA | 2018

SIZES AVAILABLE: 12"X18", 18"X27"

I have always enjoyed Halloween. Growing up, the fanciful and frivolous imagining of ghosts, ghouls, and things that go bump in the night was a source of immense family fun. Transylvania is a homage to all the great monsters of my childhood Halloween frights. Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf and the Mummy dominate a landscape filled with castles, haunted forests, spooky graveyards and a gathering of villagers ready to rid the land of any troublesome beasties. Beyond these, many more references to our collective popular cultural can be found on this canvas. I think you will all enjoy finding the many creatures who pervade the ghostly scenery and discovering who lies resting in "King's" graveyard. One small detail of personal note that I want all to see is our family dog; "Poe" a nervous pug that barks a good game but who ultimately stands behind us peeking out while protecting our house from assorted Halloween visitors. He sits in the carriage on the Invisible Man's lap with a wide-eyed peer at everything happening outside. Transylvania begs for exploration by anyone who is stout of heart and of good humor.
