Inspired by this year's Archibald exhibition at Art Gallery NSW, Artbid is hosting a timed online art auction exclusively around portraiture. From now until Thursday, August 7, this auction invites you to explore a rich collection of contemporary portraiture from emerging and established Australian artists
Portraiture comes from the French word portraire, meaning ‘to paint, depict’. Drawing inspiration from the cultural significance of the Archibald, the works showcased reflect the term itself. Featuring 85 works by 41 contemporary artists, this auction is both a tribute to the artists who disrupt the genre today, and a nod to the legacy of portraiture over the decades.
