ABOUT THE ARTIST

A transplant from Brazil to the grit of the American West, Audrey Hall is an internationally exhibited and collected visual artist with a dozen design books to her name. She brings the rigor of her fine arts background to the challenges of creativity, resulting in a growing collection of publications, images, films, music and fine art installations.

Hall is known for her poignant landscapes, ethereal equine abstracts and intricate gold-leafed photographs. Her work is part of the TIA Collection, a distinguished private collection whose unique purpose is the lending of significant works of art to museums and institutions.

Her most recent book, BISON: Portrait of an Icon, won a National Outdoor Book Award and a Pub West Silver award. BISON was also a Reading the West finalist, Foreword Indies Award finalist and a High Plains Book Award winner for Art and Photography.

ABOUT THE PROCESS

The process of photo noyé translates to “drowned print.”

First, a substrate is prepared by gold leafing the surface. The selected image is then printed on a Japanese paper and suspended in resin over the leafed surface. Finally, the resin is varnished by hand, giving a final and unique texture to each work.

From start to completion, the process takes about 8 steps and 3-4 days of layering and curing time.

Exhibition notes:

Photo noyé prints are sensitive to light and can fade or discolor with heavy UV exposure. Please display out of direct sunlight for longevity and indirect light for reflectivity.

To care for this image:

Surface can scratch, use a chamois cloth to dust. Never use wax or a polish containing wax on epoxy resin surfaces. Also, never use abrasive pads, powders or liquids as dulling of the surface will result.
